Class System Ideas
Hey there, just fund this Demo, glad I did, love Ogre Battle as a series!

I'm not sure if more classes are going into a final build, but so far, and I mean no offense, but there aren't a lot of jobs, which I imagine will be changed for the final build, but I've always loved brainstorming ideas related to this subject, creating new classes!

With this being a Roguelike especially, the need for a massive class pool for unique teams is essential, as so far, I've found one of each to be the best pick, with one more Magic user. But in going with a theme, here are some of my ideas, and I'd love if others could and would add anything here :D.

First off, not having an advanced Archer for a starting Archer class is odd, so that goes without saying.. And girls need a couple of Melee classes, and of course boys in the back, one major issue I noticed is that in the few runs I've done, ive often gotten all of either Squires or Archers.

Females:

Valkyrie - Like the Ogre Battle counterpart, stabbing in the front, Lightning in the back, but only one of either in the middle, you could pick.

Ballista - Your second tiered Archer..

Males:

Ninja - Bringing in my idea from 64 for this. Ninjas are frail, but evasive and fast, but so fast that they can use their attacks in the front row faster, possibly before anyone even does one. Major downside is that theyll be sitting ducks. They could have a skill to circumvent this once Sp builds up. In the back they can either throw a Shruiken or even do a big sneak attack on the back once, maybe, turn one they leave, and turn 2 they attack. This would be a way to keep them out of harms way, but also make others the target.

Thanks so much for finding the game and checking it out and sharing your thoughts on classes - you're totally right, we definitely have many more classes planned for the final build. This is just our alpha demo, so it showcases the gameplay loop, but is light on story and definitely has many more features that we're building out.

I was actually just getting some concept artwork done for a ninja class. 🤫

Ogre Battle was one of my favourite series growing up (and still is) and was actually a huge reason for me starting the studio, so that I could make the types of Ogre Battle-esque games that I have been hoping someone else would make! Definitely keep it coming with any feedback that you have as you're playing the game. We have a laundry list of things that we're continuing to build as we develop the game and have been getting such great feedback so far. Our work is far from over!
