WARNING
just saw the devs put the game on steam. abandon all hope ye who enter. i played this game back when it was still 2D and tried to keep playing on and off for years. all of the OG playerbase is cancer and will go out of their way to grief you. the OG players constantly bot and try to cheat to troll the devs. be warned, cool concept but cancer community. some players make custom clients with functions the devs have refused to add for QoL so good luck in PvP. go visit the official forums if you think this is a joke or over reaction. or try out the "official" discord(s)

Yeah, I figured that. I will be getting a custom client when I start pvp. Obviously, the advantage of playing with unobstructed view is too good to pass up. I will also be using scripts to fastbuild my base on the next world. Right now, I'm just learning the basics.

Simply not true, there are some very bad apples yes but the majority of the long term playerbase like myself are not some conglomerate of griefers out to ruin your day. The game is also WAY more carebearish now than it ever was in the Legacy 2D version.

It's always the same thing, you only see the barking dogs, not the great majority of players.
Some players are just lost on this game and should go on RUST but most are just fine.

I play this game occasionally(mostly in autumn or winter when it is cold outside) since W3 or W4 I think.

The game is kind of souls-like "Happy Farm" and it is always been like that. So why would someone be upset about it?

Not only it is a free game, no one forces you to play it. If you don't like it the way it is just delete it, shut down your PC and go out touch grass.

Imagine being the exact kind of person the post is talking about, and having absolutely no clue whatsoever.

Yeah you pretty much have to. The custom clients now allow you to "drop all" victims gear to the ground instantly after you KO them. If that's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I dunno what is lol

The best way to deal with them is just to keep coming back. Don't let them tank the game cause there are gonna be more people getting INTO this game now than there was. I think their problem is that back in the day you literally had to fiddle with the code yourself to get it to work and that makes them think they are elite when really THEY are the reason why this game is taking so long to actually work.
Not that it still works perfectly, but this is WAAAY better than the previous versions which I could maybe get to work for a day or two before it broke and I had to try to get it to work again taking DAYS to do so. This is actually works!
The only gripe I have is that I'd like to chose to be girl, cause you know, I'm a girl. Still naked at this point but ehhh, I'm working on it.
Back in the day I've only ever encountered ONE player and that player just NOPED out away from me. I think another thing would be nice is to yes be able to set up your own private worlds, for money of course. I missed this game so much and I am SO glad it's back!

It's not dead, last world there were still regular updates. You do want to think long and hard before you waste your time, though. If you have a limited amount of it, you can have months of it destroyed and you must play regularly otherwise you will lose your progress to claim decay and livestock death. This isn't me being a pissy baby; I had a good run last world and our base didn't fall. I've just been playing this since like W8 and it's like an abusive relationship, I'm dead serious. There's no other game that comes close to this level of detail, this kind of game play, and this amount of adrenaline, kicking you down to unprecedented lows and yet you keep crawling back. People will say just go play Stardew Valley when you complain assuming you just want a happy happy casual game, but the farming alone in Haven and Hearth is way more complex, let alone every other system in common and the systems that only HnH has. Some people do want a brutal survival crafting experience where you'll have your ass handed to you if you get too close to a bear too soon, but also the ability to choose a PvE server or have a greater degree of protection from players than afforded.

This game is like the wild west but without enough actual consequence to acting like a massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to balance it out. If you start late, you're a hermit, or you're just not fast enough/don't have enough time in a day to play, you will be quickly eclipsed in combat power and there's nothing you can do to catch up but join a large village and hope you won't be wiped out in a war. People will ♥♥♥♥ with you just because they can, even if there is nothing to gain but satisfaction. You will see rampant racism, asian black jewish you name it. Devs welcome this actually, they feel the game should be as accurate to real life as possible aka free and governed by the players, but with regular wipes killing anything that could eventually develop in such a social experiment and without the rest of what happens in real life like police forces, governments, cooperative societies where there is enough reason to behave that burglary and murder won't be a daily affair. There aren't enough vigilantes and friendly veteran players in this community to even out the ones who just get a kick out of triggering the snowflakes by flying Nazi flags and committing genocide, and if you'd like to be that kind of person you once again better have resources and time on your side or you will be capped by the hundred-person village cramming the cured meat of every bear on the continent down their warriors' gullets.

♥♥♥♥, this game even gave me nightmares when things were going fine. Always something to the tune of my walls are breached, the pit in my stomach becomes a 500lb lead brick, and months of my life disappear in the blink of an eye as my character is cut through by a b12 like a hot knife through butter. It's an experience like no other, but is it worth it? Only you can answer that, and I still don't know the answer for myself. The older I get, the less time I have and the more I value each moment, the less I want to come back.

Ideal scenario: devs get over themselves and make a PvE server or allow us to host our own, so an excellent indie game can be enjoyed with higher quality people. Hell, I would pay good money to be allowed to run a server. I don't think they are so motivated by money though or they'd adapt their game to a bigger audience and actually advertise it instead of rely on their existing fanbase to fund it. Adding it to steam was a major surprise in that regard.
