You’re not a true KOF fan if supporting the developer isn’t your thing. I 100% agree that everyone should pay for the upgraded version, but at a cheaper price than those who never owned the original. Since I don’t have the original, I don’t have to suffer spenidng money for this version either.... should be free

THEY IMPROVED THE PORT AS WELL. Accent Core Plus R netcode had horrible netcode and "optimization" and ASW hired a competent team of foreign programmers to fix the game and is flawless unlike KOF13

In fact, they did the opposite with KOF 13. The game is poorly optimized, because offline it runs you at less than 50fps. With the Steam Edition with the graphics at maximum and dynamic scenarios pulled much better. I don't know what Safari Games did to make the game run horrible.

But when Street Fighter did this, it had new characters, new stages, new content. This has absolutely NOTHING new. It's a paid patch. It adds no new content. Just adds support for 4k monitors and rollback net code. It's a patch.

This port was built from the ground up by Safari. This is NOT CodeMystic port. Thats the differences. CodeMystic was able to provide free upgrades to the other games because they remained as developers for those ports. However their original port for this game was slap together with spaghetti code and Elmer's School glue like a last min built science fair project. For them to fix it and add rollback would have basically required them to completely rebuild the game which, probably would cost SNK more than the trouble of getting someone to rebuild the game and port it to modern consoles/pc.

Doubt it. It uses the exact same assets except for those edited for the "Global Match" branding. It still uses DirectX 9 as its renderer, even though a new port could have used something more modern like DirectX 11. Graphics settings are identical save for one removed option (fixed/variable framerate), scaling works the same way as the old release.

So to me this either uses the old Steam Edition's code, or it's a stitched together mess much like what you described. Even assuming they went back and used the arcade version's code as a basis for this new version, there are still some aspects that were obviously brought over from the old Steam Edition. I seriously doubt it's a brand new port though.

SNK always does this. They always ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up because of money. They just went with the cheaper option to make this port because ♥♥♥♥ the pc users. They don't update games either unless they can cash grab more of it. This is one of the reasons I wont be buying new Fatal Fury game, they probably are gonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up there too.

They dont fix their ♥♥♥♥ either, there are games in GOG store that doesn't have the updates here in steam because ♥♥♥♥ those users too. I'm just glad that more people started to realize this.
