How to cheat by scummy save editing
The autosave file is under your user profile folder, e.g.
c:\users\*your username*\Appdata\LocalLow\Failbetter Games\Sunless Sea\Saves
(note that the Appdata folder may be hidden, just type it into the location bar).

Open the file "Autosave.json" with Notepad -- rightclick and Open With.... Notepad.

At the end are a lot of blocks in curly brackets that look like:

{"Name":null,"EquippedPossession":null,"Relationships":[],"XP":0,"EffectiveLevelModifier":0,"TargetQuality":null,"TargetLevel":null,"CompletionMessage":null,"Level":95989,"AssociatedQuality":null,"AssociatedQualityId":102028,"QualityName":null,"QualityDescription":null,"QualityImage":null,"QualityNature":null,"QualityCategory":null,"QualityAllowedOn":null,"Id":0},

Each of these blocks relate to one stat, number of items, or something.
"AssociatedQualityId" decides which stat/item the block refers to.
"Level" is the number of it.

AssociatedQualityId 102028 is the block for echoes. So you can search for 102028 and increase the Level in that block.

AssociatedQualityId to search for the different skills:
102896 - veils,
102895 - mirrors,
102894 - iron,
102898 - pages,
102897 - hearts
This is the base value before modifiers.

To be honest I found the game a lot more enjoyable with Hearts of around 90, as that means you lose supply much more slowly. It's a way to still experience the game but with the grind just slightly softened.

I had successfully changed hold size of the basic ship from 40 to 4000! This was the most annoying thing for me trying to fit everything I need in there and I didn't really liked there is only one other ship with enough space...

Just edit your save file and look for the ID 102031. There are two occurences of that number, not sure which actually does the change. For the first case change Level value, second case it's EffectiveLevelModifier.

Note that if you change the ship, you need to do it again (if you like).

And I can definitely recommend the http://jsoneditoronline.org/ to make changes.

I tried this with my current ship (not the base ship), changed it in both places, and it seemed to work. But when I finish buying a crapton of fuel and supplies and try to launch from London, it gives me the "too much cargo" window where you have to dump stuff overboard in order to continue, and it still demands I reduce my cargo to the actual cargo limit for that ship (70). Any ideas what's going on?

I cover how to change hold size in my guide now.

and what about longboxes? I need longboxes to save a child and I don't have enough time to go get them (I've tried) and he keeps dying

Yep guide covers that too, just look up the ID number in your Qualities.json file then change the "Level": in front of that ID in your save file to 1

Hearts are tied to consumption of supplies?

From what I seem to recall that was the case. Only 95% sure now but thought that my supplies decreased a lot slower.

Since the supply consumption is basically a constant money leech, boosting only hearts to 100 will cause quite a bit more room in terms of income.

Yeah. They are rate-linked even if minorly so. Well, the rate depending on how far along you are whether it's majorly or lesser in what you determine "big" consumption.

Taken from the qualities.json file and most of them confirmed with the wiki, these are IDs of some things
fragments 108545
fuel 102027
fuel efficiency 109902
supplies 102026
echoes 102028
I also made a post on how to edit in additional equipment slots for your ship, so you can have aft and forward slots on starting ship.
Thanks a lot i'm going to remove some of the grind !

102897 = heart
102898 = pages

No. Ages ago someone suggested hearts should affect supplies consumption but that's never been the case.

But you've already got the tools to verify this, test it out for yourself. Change Hearts to 1 and 200 and see if the consumption rate differs one iota. Or just to 200 and see if it matches the chart's[pastebin.com] predictions.

There are two separate factors Hearts *could* affect: hunger per tick, or seconds per tick. However, seconds per tick is always 10 (set in navigationconstants.json), and hunger per tick is always crew/2 (ties round to even). I suppose it could also change the location of the bar on the hunger meter, however it's easy to see that it doesn't.

In that case, hearts a less useless than I thought. It seems like a lot of the heart related choices seem to have an iron option, from what I have seen.

I guess I technically do, but I've never messed around with save files. I guess the worst that can happen is you corrupt the individual save file, right?

Well.... yeah. Obviously backup your save file first (just make a copy with a different name).

Hiya guys!
I really want to up my echoes, and I'm using Cheat Engine, and I've seen the previous "ID codes" but I just dont get it. In cheatengine, there are 2 more numbers than the ID codes you guys have posted. And I have 12 echoes right now, so I cant waste much (lol), I tried before to buy something and look for my changed value, but come on, I got over 28 MILLION different addresses with IDcodes.
I am new to cheat engine, so I've probably missed something really important in this.
So help guys, how do I find the right code to echoes in Cheat Engine?
Drake Ravenwolf 2016년 5월 4일 오후 3시 20분
Save file editing is very easy in this game so (at least imo) no need to resort to using cheat engine. Read this and if you still need help, just let me know.
