The dawn machine appeares to be some sort of freak creation by the Admirality for... Some odd reason. Not sure why or what it does but they recently released a small story foreshadowing things about it in Fallen London.
There's also the offical artwork of the machine by the main fallen london artist: http://misterarendt.tumblr.com/post/98459333766/bit-abstract-this-one-the-dawn-machine
And yeah there's new story on Admiralty on Fallen London if you managed to get Acquaintance with the Wry Functionary up to 5...
Maybe......Maybe.... lol
As someone who doesn't play Fallen London, what is that place? I wouldn't call that a spoiler so much as needed background information.
If you're responding to me, sorry, but that's not what I meant. I asked what the important place occupied by stars and the sun in Fallen London lore is.

Edit: Actually there's a dozen spoiler-y bits related to Sunless Sea on the way, so give me a tick and I'll try and find the specific post...
Edit 2: Done. Peruse the rest at your own risk, I guess.
Thanks!
