Catching sunlight
Hi guys, I need just a quick tip.
As I'd imagine a lot of you, I'm struggling to make enough cash in this game. Now, I noticed there are empty mirrorcatch boxes and you can resell them after catching the light (I assume on the surface).
My question is: can I do it multiple times? I mean buy a lot of empty boxes and fill them with sunlight in one trip. It seems pretty profitable.

you can, and depending on where/how you sell the boxes you can keep the empties to save the cost of buying new ones

Nice! Thanks for the quick answer.

And where can I keep the empties? In Corsair's Forest for example I loose the box.

If you never denied the blind bruiser in london he will buy the mirrorcatch boxes from you for 400 echoes and always returns the empty box.

Great, thanks!

The Isle of Cats is the other place where a check determines if you get the box back. The Blind Bruiser is preferred for the slightly less profit but no check guaranteed box return.

This trade was nerfed and you will get a light addiction which will kill you by adding an impulse to open the boxes and burn yourself after three deliveries of 10. Never trade more than 30 light in a row or you die.

This is only useful to get on your feet. You should immediately switch to the red honey trade afterwards.

Considering the extremely high amount of money you got when it was introduced with no menace, Failbetter felt this trade was rebalanced, but what Thamalandis wrote.

(Honey trade is much better, especially if you switch to a Hidden compartment before docking in FL. That suspicion eventually goes down a lot faster, to expand on that)

That Yearning Burning menace only goes away when you rest in your lodgings 50% of the time, and (when lucky to get it) only lowers by 1 per. it also goes up by 1 when you travel to the surface. Apologies we didn't note that earlier. As Thamalandis noted also, it's to get you on your feet. Once you start getting the menace over 100[sunlesssea.gamepedia.com], you start (random checks) to compulsively open the boxes, risking wounds and death. Oh, and sometimes crew opens it too. "The Sun" is very addicting when you're gone from it, it seems.

Given how close London is to the Cumaean Canal, you should be able to get there fast enough under full power to avoid opening too many boxes, as long as you're in good standing with the Blind Bruiser. Just make sure that you don't have any wounds when you go to the surface, and stop by Mutton Island and trigger a SAY event so that you get to London before another one spawns to avoid customs. Depending on your map, the Isle Of Cats may be close enough to make this a viable alternative.
