[Spoilers] Can't get Serpentine engine.
Hey guys.
I played this game a while after it was released as early-access. On those playthroughs I got the Serpentine engine more than once without issues.
Now I started playing Sunless Sea again, already tried twice doing the magician quest line and on both of those I didn't get the option to build the engine. What am I doing wrong?

On the wiki it says I need to select "Share a toast with the Magician" on Forgotten Quarters (fourth part), but I never got that option, I only got the option to tell him to come back to me, to kill him or to eat him - as an urban magician. Already did this twice and same thing happened, no option to share toast and no engine...

Did he win the battle against the Serpent-king? He needs to win to build the Serpentine. He'll tell you why if he succeeded. If he lost, he'll have better stats than if he had won, but you will not get the engine.

Ah...so that's why...
I thought that after he went there, he would immediately win, because I spent a lot of money and honey for him to go there. Either he always won on the early access version, or the quest was altered. Damn, I wanted that engine lol.

Not to worry, there is a much better engine out there, but you need to sacrifice the best forward weapon in the game for it.

Yeah, the Urbane Magician isn't your magician. He lost the battle and what came back is a serpent king wearing his skin. Only the Satisfied Magician (I think) can build the engine.
