Where is that eye?
I've been through the 'Something forgotten is here' generic tile a few times by now and no eye.

Also god, I hate those tiles. Waste of fuel. I know that they need to be there for logistical reasons since there's no lore to accompany them but grargh.

the problem is that the area of "something forgotten is here" can be couple of squares, but the eye is somewhere in it, I found it by accident ... it is in the area where you start seeing some sort of texture on the bottom of the ocean ....

Found it, got the achievement too. Kinda scared the crap out of me even though I had a tiny chunk of that tile left unexplored so I knew exactly where it was.

I have the tides of appetite on my map and they squirm like a sleeping kraken, but even with high terror, nothing happens. I figure that is not "The Eye"... I discovered the whole map (no shadow left) but never encountered it.

To my knowledge, you need 50+ terror for the eye to appear; but the map tile with the eye doesn't always spawn for a captain, so you would need to look for it on a new captain with a new chart.

I especially reused my chart during my 1 loss and 1 draw (North Ending) to have an advantage in Shadow Ironman mode. Guess I got a "lucky" map. Well at least something to fill "10 years" sailing then. Once I make my colony win with my current (3rd) captain, I will reset it and keep the memento mori and something else. To get over the starting exploration, I might just give him 12 heirlooms. Even with the nerf of the light trade, I turn quite the profit after the moral investment at the Isle of Cats... that and a speed run to port from Mutton Island to ecape port control. The blood of memories must flow, either for devils or addicts hands.

There's a submerged building near the Eye, as well as a tiny, unnamed island.

The general area looks like this.

You can see the Eye off to the east a bit.

And here's the Eye itself for reference.

I've hit it a couple of times now and not gotten the acheive. /sigh

Maybe next time.

On that note, anyone know a more reliable source for Stone's Curse than the heart of Frostfound?

One thing I found out the hard way is you need to be below Terror 50 then hit the area that message popped and go to 50 for it to pop. Even so, it's not on all maps. I'll be happy if it's corrected to always pop if post 50+ terror exploring.

So far as I know, that is the only way of getting that Curse, and its only game relevance (other than costing a lot to get rid of it if you want to) is giving you that achievement.

I've been playing for 70+ hours and still haven't seen the eye. I tend to keep my terror pretty low, though, so perhaps I need to frighten my crew just a little more.

It's ok. I found it only recently, at my 90th hour or something.
Sooner or later, you will find it.
I'm kinda curious about the Eye...and the new upcoming DLC for SS.

I really hope that you can go down in the Eye region with a zubmariner.
Maybe be devoured.
Maybe not.
Maybe something worse will happen.

I have 459 hours, most at high terror levels.... never yet seen The Eye

Some things are better left forgotten....

I believe you don't need to be at high terror to actually *see* the area. Its eyelid is not hard to spot, and indeed, it is located in an area with submerged buildings (R'lyeh reference, perhaps?). The problem is that the tile can end up somewhere you may have no reason to visit besides actually finding the Eyem like in the midst of watery desert.
Thamalandis Jan 15, 2016 @ 4:50am
Well this time around, one of the SE tiles (the nameless one) has turned into the "Something forgotten lies here..." area. I went through it in a straight line and uncovered two black lines (so not all) and it was practically empty. Identifying that tile seems rather easy, without reading the log. There is so much water...
Now all I have to do is go back there and find the eye... didn't plan to the first time around.
