Passing down ships?
If you have an ironclad will, is it possible to pass down your ship (one that you bought) if you reitre? I dont recall seeing an option for it and i'm debating weither to pass down the money or the chart when my zailor dies/ retires.

Nope. Ships are not inheritable at present. We do not know if they ever will be.

Would be great if they were an option

Well that is a shame. Oh well thanks anyways :)

This should be an option if you retire. It would make sense if ships were inherited if you retire, but otherwise it would be kind of stupid if your ship sinks, your captain dies, and the ship somehow comes back from the bottom of the zea to be inherited.

Agreed. If you perish at sea, then it makes perfect sense you can't keep the vessel. But if you've retired from the zeefaring life, it doesn't seem right that you're just gonna leave your boat in the shed when you have a child (or similar Legacy character) who's just itching to go to zee.

Considering the lore, it may tie into the laws the Masters have about ships. You can only ever have one ship in your name (meaning if you want to have a merchant company, other ships under your command must be under the names of other people so you'd better damn trust them) and the only way to get the ship disconnected from your name is the scuttle it. That, or sell it to a Master. From a lore standpoint, it /MIGHT/ make sense, but it would be nice if it were explained in Sunless Sea since it doesn't seem to be at this time.

I'd rather be allowed to pass down engines (Impeller, obviously). >_>

Something i really hope for:
a hard mode that you only access by retiring with your ambition, that gives new quests for your heir. And then gives you more options of carrying stuff over.

They should scrap the echo legacies with veils and mirrors and replace them with something more creative. Passing on your ship, secrets, engines etc.

If you have anything other than the Steam-Yacht, passing on echoes *is* passing on a ship and/or Secrets. Engines, though, yeah.
