Forgot to say "besides buying them" :)

Colassal fluke-cores give three when you kill them, as well as other valuable goodies. They are usually found on the eastern side of the map.

Nice! that's a good idea (as in fun, and it will probably get me killed :D )

Colossal fluke-cores are indeed the fastest way. they are easy to kill (memento mori + good deck weapon), and sail backwards from them. You are unlikely to get more than 10 damage per fluke. Then sell them to the Antiquarian.

Also, if you keep your ship right up on them, they don't ram you. This only applies the fluke-cores that don't fire at you.

you can always trade in your stories(you get lots of memories of distant shores) at the mangrove college too. Though, you'll need some fragments still

Would be interesting if in the zubmarine expansion, the under-zee (apart from island mounts) quardrants re-randomizes every X number of days as to a nod for why all the islands move after death. So you always end up exploring and the deep is never truely known.

I had not considered the memories of distant shores way. I always end up selling those to the academic at london.

(Thanks very much for all your suggestions!)

Two words:

Lorn Fluke

They're so easy to kill; their ranged attack does a measly 2 damage! Only annoying part is their large health pool making the whole endevour rather snooze-worthy.

The exchange rate is atrocious.

Irem seems to sell secrets as well, I think it was 999 echos though I didn't try buying 1 as I was a bit low on funds at the time. A bit pricey perhaps but if you can raise a lot of echos its the best way to do it probably.

Use the Echoes you gain from selling the Lorn Fluke cores to the Scholar and then buy MOAR Secrets!

Secretception :)

If there any reason to hold onto more than 7 or 14 of each story if you're not writing the song of the zee?

You can use the unsettling sage from wisdom to convert memories of a distant shore to zea stories, on a 1:1 basis, which you can then use to convert to other goods in Whither etc.

MoDs seem far more common than zea stories.
