Judgement's Egg
I got one from Mutton, but now I'm in need of another. I gave that one to my kid, not realizing the significance of it. Now I need it to finish my crazy gunner's quest. Any advice? Wiki's not being terribly helpful.

Just walk the shores of Mutton Island and Aesling (I think that's the name...). The event that brings it up is terribly random so, regrettably, it's more about how patient you are than any actual meaningful way of attaining it.
Aestival? If Beachcombing still provides Judgements' Eggs, Mangrove College is another potential destination. If you're rich/very strong, you could also hunt Lorn-Flukes and sell their cores at the Iron Republic for an Egg each.

I think beachcombing only works once, but I'll try some more locations. If nothing else, the Lorn-Flukes are an option, if dangerous and difficult. Thanks.
Beachcombing only works once per Something Awaits You In Port, but other than that, it's repeatable. However, according to gamefile-exploring forumites, apparently the chances of getting the Egg through Beachcombing has been drastically reduced.

I guess that means I have a safe-but-slow way to do it. I've had a few bits of beachcombing but nothing yet. Hey, better then sailing far east and almost dying again. Grinding pirates is pretty easy, so supplies will be fine too. Thanks.

If pirates aren't enough, you can also just grind port reports in your travels to supplement fuel intake.
The new Shipwreck option on Beachcombing, which is far more common, also provides a fair amount of fuel or supplies per go as well, so even if you don't get an Egg (which you probably won't, with the new reduced rate), it's still worth doing if it pops up!

I want to say you can buy one in Irem now too, I finished the gunner's quest on a toon.

*edit* Yep, you can buy them in Irem for 10 secrets. You can also buy secrets there for 999 echos too.

So judgement's eggs from beachcombing have become much rarer, but if you take a fluke core to the iron republic on days 1-4, you can buy one there with it. There are a number of one off storylines that provide them too, but right now the most reliable way is Irem or this.

What happens when you give it to your child?

I think it was either 15 or 20 last time I did it. Sure, it's an expensive item, but the text is also worth reading - your child says they're destined to sail East, which makes me think that it'll either unlock or provide some bonus story-condition to the Go East ambition when it's added to the game.

That's a good point- at my current point in the game I've fallen into the trap of min-maxing everything.

The Tour Operator story in Venderbight is a guaranteed Judgement Egg as a reward granted you don't lose any Tomb Colonist on the way.

Do not try to get one by going south of Adam's Way!!! I learned that the hard way.
