No it doesnt but why waste money on fuel and supplys for drowing perls when you can just buy coffee right next door to leopard then swap for taimans mercy saving you echos in the process.
Because coffee is more expensive even if you include fuel and supplies? It's 5x more expensive to do it your way:

5 Sacks x 40 echoes per sack x 4 gifts x 1.5 conversions to Taimen's mercy = 1200 echoes

5 Pearls* x 16 echoes per pearl x 3 gifts = 240 echoes

Worse, you can't even buy Coffee in Khan's Heart if your suspicion is over 9. You have to make multiple trips from the southern coast. As such, the fact Drowning Pearls don't take up cargo space makes them even better.

* 7 Scintillack (worth 490 echoes in London**) => 30 Drowning Pearls, so 1 pearl "costs" you 16 echoes

** You can, of course, do much better than London's prices, but this requires lots more zailing around, and you seem to dislike that for some reason. You can get 1400 echoes per 7 Scintillack with a little SAE grinding at Varchas before selling in London, more if you have surplus secrets and are willing to do several runs between London and Venderbight, though this last option is not actually better unless your Pages is still uncapped. That still only brings the cost of each round of pearl gifting up to 690 echoes, far less than it costs you to use coffee.

Fair enough but where are the fuel and supply costs in this equation saying it's less expensive then only mentioning the coffee perls, Scintillack doen't support anything how do you know fuel and supplys wont boost the cost of it up 1200 just like the coffee it's only 500 echoes more and you have no idea of the OP's map layout.

Also take in to account the OP might not have an uncovered chart making it more expensive to zail around and find the ports he needs

Also OP wanted less suspicion for khans heart not money.

What makes you think I dislike zailing around based on the fact I like the shortest route to my current goal. Assumptions are the bane of existence .

Then looks like you are okay to zail to your stomachs content.

Enjoy your game.

I made a fix for reducing your suspicion via Taimen's Mercy[drive.google.com], if anyone's interested.

Extract the folder and put it in your Sunless Sea addons folder (if it isn't there, you might need to Get New Stories)
Windows: C:\Users\your username\AppData\LocalLow\Failbetter Games\Sunless Sea\addons
Mac: /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Sunless Sea/addons

found a great way to lower suspicion while i was trying to get a specific SAY event to happen in Khan's Heart for The Neathbow. i keep getting this one SAY event where you can either help a random stranger who is injured or turn him in(the gaurds are looking for him nearby) if you turn him in, you get -1 suspicion.

Also I think you can only buy from the market with a suspicion of 9 at most(So 10 and higher is bad)

Sure, here's the calc:

Supplies: 0 echoes * as many as you need = 0 echoes

Fuel: 9 echoes * 56 units = 504 echoes

In other words, unless he uses more than 112 units of fuel for every set of 7 scintillack delivered to Fathomking's hold, there's no way coffee will be cheaper. (Or he buys supplies rather than harvesting them from the College, I guess, but who would do that?)

In OP's case he can't even buy coffee from the Khans, so he already needs more fuel and supplies on top of the 1140 echoes for coffee from the Elder Continent.

There are actually two different identical-seeming events here. I think only one of them reduces suspicion when you turn him in.

Eh, it's a pity the College is so far outside your ideal route. Though, if you sided with those disgusting pigs, Pigmote would be just as good.

oh ♥♥♥♥, i never thought to gather supplies at mangrove or pigmote..... could get supplies 5 at a time super easily at pigmote because i did side with the guinea's.

You can also get drowning-pearls by delivering supplies and fuel to the bloody monkeys at the Empire of Apes. This isn't free, but it does double duty toward finishing the airship.

I do see your point but unless you have perfect placement of your islands you are not always able to visit the palces you are talking about and save echoes.

Only two places sell fuel at 9 echoes so using the lowest denominator is rubbish if they are not along or close to the route taken.

Again harvesting from the College is useful but not if it's not near the route your taking.
What happends when the colleges is not close and neither is cheap fuel.

It's not hard to get access to the nephrite quarter.

Of course none of this even takes in to account ship type, engine type, or amount of crew the OP has which all impact on consumption of fuel and supplies.

So lets just say you got the cheapest way.

And I got the fastest way.

The Admiral asking for Strategic Info from a certain location is random. It's just an uhh (translates from profanity) "uppa you" that the RNG chose that location 3 consecutive times. As a quick Kagarian Suspicion fix, it's best to camp at Khan's Glory and get the Rare Success for aiding that suspicious character. Then, going to Glory and trading in the Mercy will randomly lower said Suspicion.

Harvesting Drowning Pearls[sunlesssea.gamepedia.com] is the best economic option for Khan's Glory trade in for mercy (which again, you must choose as a separate option not simply trade them in and it lowers suspicion. This is due to you having the option of either allowing access or lowering suspicion there.) Fathomking trading is not the only way. Besides that, you also may:
  • "Rescue a dripping parcel" from the "Nuncio Beach" event when SAY is 25-49, granting +20 Drowning Pearls. This is the easiest random option.
  • Trade Supplies or fight the Rats for +5 of them in Rat Corsairs (Demeaux Island when SAY>76)
  • Zee Creature reward "Gummed with hardened mucus" 55% Rare success option gaining 3-6 Drowning Pearls 40-43 an Unprepossessing Mass; that range option only available for the full-grown Jillyfish and BeheMoustaches (choosing the Treasure and not learn secrets option.)
  • "An Oilskin Packet" which is 31-35 in a Cache of Curiosities (that high range covers the Glorious Dreadnought and Eater of names ships unfortunately. It may also be available from the Republican Dreadnought, but all I ever got was "A Rich Wild Scent" and "A tightly-sealed crate" when not fuel or supplies. it's likely though the RNG hates me on that ship and you may fare better since it absolutely is higher than 30 there.)

Secondly, when asked for Strategic Info[sunlesssea.gamepedia.com], obtaining any new Strategic Info will allow an Admiralty new Strategic Info mission instead in London. So (using the Link to verify this if you wish,) going to the Fathomking's Hold and "Listen to a Khaganian Emissary" will net you 1 SI. Going back to London now will allow a new Admiralty mission.

(And of course, 2 SI=1 Vital Intelligence.)

You have to be very very unlucky for both Pigmote and the College to be too far away to be your main source of supplies. If you ever find yourself so low on supplies that you have to buy instead of stocking up at the College or Pigmote, you miscalculated. Widen your route, do something different. Get a bigger ship. The College can reduce terror, give you supplies, *and* potentially give you fuel or pearls (when beachcombing), so it's really never "out of the way". Unless you blemmigan'd it, I guess.

Mt. Palmerston is basically always nextdoor to the Khanate, so... even if you buy it in London or the Carnelian Coast (DON'T buy it anywhere else!) you still get a lot of essentially free fuel from port reports and admiralty's favour. If anything I overestimated fuel costs.

Beachcombing (at the Mangrove College or Aestival), can also give a small amount of pearls, but not enough to be a serious choice. Basically, that's the option you pick only if you didn't get a shipwreck or Judgment's Egg (respectively, SAY 50-70 and supposedly 90-100, though I think it's actually 99-100 now).

I think taking wine and supplies to the Shepherd Isles is more reliable, though not exactly cheaper. You only have a 50% chance of getting one, but that's better than the 25% of getting the right option at the Fathomking.
