The Hunters keep... Story (heavy spoilers)
SISTERS :( WHY.

Why...

Anyway, so... Da ♥♥♥♥ happended? I know one of them was a bit crazy but suddenly the house is burning and only one has a chance to survive. Why her, why did the house burn down, what happended to "those sailors" the maid talked about (i reloaded to make sure i could see what she said, and saving thesister but i eventually let it play out once and kept my results).

I'm pretty sure the idea is to establish the right amount of horror and feeling of loss. Seems to have worked on you. :)

The story doesn't end there, if you saved a sister. You can find a place for her. Picking the right one will give you a nice reward on your first playthrough, but I don't want to spoil it for you.

I think i'll look it up since i ended up, in the end, going through it one last time and sticking with my decision, and it resulted in her dying. Where could i find what happens?

The wiki has all the info. I would advise against it though, at least for a little while. Maybe load your game and save the sister, if you can.

This story is here to make you feel bad too.
early on the hunter keep is overused for free supply/food reduction;
when you save the last sister, she explain you that they wanted to hear zailor story so much that they give what they could in return (starving themself in the process) to make them come and tell story.[\spoiler]

While that's actually pretty interesting... It doesn't explain why the fire started.

One of the sister die from hunger if i remember, the other one fire the keep by regrets (not sure about this part)

Well, the "food" situation was adapted for the Sunless Sea game. They also exist in Fallen London and are "still there." in that reality/current timeline.
They are the descendants of a family that follows the Correspondence like an ancient Greek Oracle Order.[saint-arthur.tumblr.com] Quite bluntly, talking about such stories and studying such stories too much makes you eventually lose your mind.[saint-arthur.tumblr.com] Since they are all alone on an island, and there is stuff they sorta are looking into with Mr. Eaten, let's just say they are not 100% Well, a certain sister not that well more than others. (But in FL, the house is still standing...and we still have no [CENSORED] idea what the Maid is.)

If they exploited the sailors into telling them all of their stories though, did they force them to stay? And if they did, why isn't your character forced to stay?

Imagine a trio (and maid) desperate for any company. Imagine a (mostly) male sailor desperate for companionship. That's what kept them coming back. (Not sure which was more maddening first. ;) )

Why would the Maid be so angry and horrified at what they did unless it was worse than that?

When you phrase it like that the story reminds me of the myths of the Sirens and of Circe, tempting sailors towards them.

And while I never heard the developers of FL/SS say it, it seems pretty strongly that's a basic theme (without the shipwreck, but turning into pigs may happen later :steammocking:)
