Oh definintly, it seems like a fascinating place.
Sunless Sea Gamepedia - "Fallen London"
So maybe those bats you run into in Sunless Sea are like minions that take the cities underground.
It is. Sunless Sea introduced me to Fallen London a year ago now, and I still enjoy it very much. Mr Kennedy [the main writer] sure knows how to spin a tale. Do try Fallen London, the writing is just baffling.
If you ever try Fallen London, feel free to contact me if you need some beginner's advice. My character's name there is Anvil.
With my apologies to the interested parties if such an attention was unwarranted, I will also recommend you these two gentlemen/gentlewomen as (not-so) early days patrons in Fallen London : the truthseeker and clumly. Tell them I sent you if they seem unsure : these guys helped me understand a lot of what is going on in this fascinating yet often cryptic universe, and I owe a lot of my own fast progression to them. Altenatively, you could aslo spend some time on the Fallen London forums, the overwhelmingly large majority of people there are both friendly and helpful.
Also, if, like me, you feel besieged by lore questions, ask those questions on the "I'm a candle" blog. The guy managing the blog belongs, from the devs' opinion, to "a better class of stalker", but he/she sure knows an awful lot about what the hell exactly is going on in the Neath.
Anyway, I won't spoil any more of your fun. Again, do try Fallen London if you feel you have time for it. 90% of your questions will be answered in the first 4 weeks.
Also, wow i just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. I lost all of my crew due to a constable looking in my ship for a crate of human souls i forgot i had where the person who gave them to me ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my crew up... But i did explore a lot, even going to the sp00ky frozen castle where i lost a important sneaky guy, but gained a bunch of knowledge for a good chunk of money. Its a super fascinating world, though i plan on using manual saves because i just don't have the time to grind (i'd rather not spend my time grinding rather then exploring) Also, hunters keep's sisters are so nice... Too nice maybe...
And yes, bats literally ripped London and took it underground, the fifth such city they did to. Why is a Secret you should explore at http://www.failbettergames.com/fallen-london/. (This month is ideal for new players as the once-a-year Advent/Neathmas season has begun and you can get really cool free stuff all month. See https://t.co/Zb4TlmmlzP )
And while I am not a capped-stat player who can train others (those are called Patrons,) I can help others in different ways who ask (just tell me how you were referred to me of course so I know what you are referring to and how I can help.) I'll even sweeten the pot. As noted I'm a Candle, AKA Spacemarines9 has a lore site of FL (http://saint-arthur.tumblr.com/) at the following link http://saint-arthur.tumblr.com/post/61674014566/accessible-access-codes, you can click on the provided FL links in the submission, sign in for each one, and get even more bonus high-end for beginning characters stuff (one time, but works on new characters who never used the link before should you make more than one character or "alt".)
Wait, there's Christmas stuff in Sunless Sea for the month? Haven't played it in a long while bc I'm waiting for the DLC to renew my interest. But Christmas stuff renews it now haha that's so cool. Truth, can you give an example w/o spoilers?
What do you do in FL to unlock/access this? Or is it just for paying players?
-It's free, and each code will remaning usable for a while (probably a few days).
-These acess codes contain a piece of story when you first see them (at the logging screen) and another bit of story plus a preset reward when you enter the game.
-The advent Calendar release a new acess code each day (from December 1º till 25).
- You can find the Calendar here (fallenlondonDOTstorynexusDOTcom/advent)
-Additionally, while the event is happening, you will be able to send and receive Christmas Cards wich will give cool rewards for both the sender and the reciever.
