I know. The key word here is "always," or rather "not always". The PC is unusually resilient by the standards of most Londoners, but if you were to poison yourself too thoroughly you might find yourself trapped on that slow boat. Or you might simply not have the energy to return.
There was a thread on the community forums where this was discussed in some depth; I'll see if I can't dreg it up later.

Totally shouldn't have gotten myself kicked out by performing in front of the empress. To be fair though, it was one hell of a performance.... heheheh.
No, it isn't. It's also not canon and not particulary important, so you don't have to worry about it unless you like solving incredibly meta puzzles.
