the Starveling Cat!
the Straveling Cat!
Dupin's got an extra!
if you really want that!

Quite. Anyways, yes. I have a Starveling Cat that's up for grabs if anybody has need for one. Since I got the guinea pig for my mantelpiece I no longer have a place for it there and overall I don't have any options currently for which I could utilize it in. So, ultimately, all it's doing right now is subtracting three from my persuasive.

If anybody has a need for or simply desires it feel free to ask for it. Until then it'll be within my inventory until further notice.

I'm on fallen London to , spider main is the name 😀
The Starveling Cat has been given away to a new owner since nobody here seemed to desire it.

Honestly, I don't know why someone would desire such a mangy thing. I still have the box that contains it (from the illustrius game of 'pass the box'), and I have no intention of letting it out.

They were incredibly valuable a while ago. You needed 7 or so of them to get past the initial "Seeking Mr Eaten's Name" quests.

Ahh yes. Mr. Eaten. A storyline I never intend to follow. When the narrator tells you that following it is a bad idea, he/she truly means it. I'd rather not have to start grinding my character from the very beginning thank you very much.
yah in quest to get to his name isn't even done yet and it's prity bad (this is if you don't fail and you keep your meniaces low)

you need
high nightmares quite offten, scholar of correspondance, unaccountably peckish
persuasive loss 670cp, dangerous loss 520cp, watchfull loss 550~630cp, shadowy loss 40~120cp, bohemian loss 150cp, society loss 150cp, church loss 150cp, widow loss 150cp, urchins loss 150cp, loss of all seconds chances, NEAR instant insanty (30cp of 36cp needed), imprisened 7 times, loss of 500 whispered secrets, loss of 500 cryptic clues, loss of 20 appalling secrets, loss of 1500 moon-pearls, loos of 1500 glim, loss of 1500 jade, loss of 500 proscribed material, loss of 500 stolen correspondences, loss of 500 greyfields 1979, loss of 500 greyfields 1882, loss of 80 F.F. Gebrandt's superior laudanum, loss of 7 your very own infernal contract, loss of 3 starving cat, one starving cat that won't die, 8 deaths, loss of 7 correspondance plauges, a skyglass knife (that don't brake or get lost),

All this and all you get is:
7 Stains on your soul
7 Weeping scar
7 Memory of Chains
and 10 appalling Scret

some story flair with the OOC mesage from the developer...

"For pity's sake, stop. This will destroy you and everything you love.

The quest for Mr Eaten's name will be continued soon. Unfortunately. "
oh and a drop of 670 is enough to take your persuasive from 35 to 0
I repeat. Not a storyline I plan on taking anytime soon. That would be months of grinding down the tubes. If I had taken the storyline early, I might have gone through with it. But as a person of great importance, that would be a hell of a lot to lose.
Curiosity killed the cat, as they say.

Honestly, You have neither played fallen london to it's fullest or even lived life to its fullest until you've jumped down wells and drowned yourself in beer to aid a ghost spacebat in his quest for revenge.
This isn't a game you play for items, and from what we know currently, there will almost certainly not be a happy ending for anyone at the end of the road unless you choose to be very, very selfish--in which case there will be a happy ending for you, and no-one else. This game is about story, and Seeking Mr Eaten's Name is one of the best stories in the game.

I understand why you'd choose not to participate in it--I've mostly been relying on other people's echoes of the Nadir for the same reasons. But don't call it a bad storyline because there aren't any major item rewards.
I agree with you fully Snowskeeper.
Oh, by no means do I consider it a bad storyline. On the contrary, it's an fascinating tale of how obsessive curiosity can lead to your own destruction. But if more end-game content is to be released, I'd prefer not to grind up my stats all over again to get to it. Maybe if I ever make a new character I might explore it.

And I don't think that a happy ending is impossible, by the way. Just faint. A glimmer of light in a sea of darkness. But light nonetheless. My character is the kind of guy who's kind to everyone he meets, and tries to help the unfortunate and fight injustice. Hell, I converted my handsome townhouse to an orphanage for god's sake. And the rewards? Well... it's more than satisfactory. Being a candle in the darkness has it's advantages. XD

I fail to see how an orphanage will stop a city from crushing you when the 6th one comes around.
