Propositioning an officer: Scion?
Two questions regarding propositioning an officer. I got the Maybe's Daughter pretty early, before I even established a love back home. My stats just happened to be perfect to proposition her right away, so I did.

Questions:
1. Will she ever give me a kid? Or is the proposition just 'fooling around'
2. I briefly saw an interaction with her pop up, but then a new day turned and it vanished, and I haven't seen any oppertunities to expand on the proposition since then. Did that day-turn kill the arc for me? I didn't even get a chance to click it.

It's only fooling around. Once is OK, but should you get an offer a second time, your love back home will find out if you accept and a failed hearts check means you literally have your love and child leave you. This is true for all the officers: Once is ok but not ending it after that risks your family back home. Technically your "new day" should be available, but if it glitched, you'll be able to re-proposition her as if the affair was on the first time. Talk to her and find out: If it's not there you're waiting for an event to pop up.

I wonder. So scion is persistent legacy now for some reason. Does that mean we are free to fool around with officers as much as we feel like it on the second (and subsequent ones) captain in a lineage?

I had a love back in London but she died due, presumably, to being 'cursed by salt' so I went ahead and fooled around with her. I hope I can still start the family/scion quest even with the fooling around going on and having lost a lover in London.

Someone on this forum said that once you lose sweetheart in London, (s)he is gone for good, and it was suggested that you somehow should avoid coming back to London if you suffered Salt's curse.

Good luck grinding all those offerings without access to Wolfstack Exchange, though. Not impossible, but troublesome.

That said, you may or may not really suffer without ability to pass lodgings and second one-time legacy. If you wish to invest in your future captains, focus on one stat and get legacy tomes relevant to different stats. Tome of miracles, A dream of red and any third of your choice could be a good idea for a single playthrough.

Granted, that is if you wish to spoil yourself with reading strategies and guides :P

P.S. My question from previous post still stands.

I think you are, but only if you don't have a sweetheart and/or child in London. Need to test it, though, so I'm not 100% sure.
I know for a fact that if you get Salt's Curse and don't have children/sweethearts and die without having one, you get to keep you scion legacy. I tested this personally with my latest captain.

Are you sure about that? Because I know for a fact the curse first takes your wife and kid, then takes your scion.

The kid is your scion; they are the same thing. if you have a sweetheart and child, losing them means you lose your choice of a second line and have to re-grind it on your next captain. Now if you somehow have enough resources and have not found a sweetheart that captain, you can have as many affairs as you wish. Feel free to try dying current captain without a child after post-scion on a previous Captain, as I admit I have not "tested" that theory however.

Ah I had it backwards, first the Curse takes your Scion, then (if you don't have a Scion) your sweetheart and child. And it won't fire at all if Romance: Someone Back Home is at either 0 or 100 (never started, or lost either because of an affair or certain other events), so Darth Grin is correct. You can effectively ignore Salt's Curse as long as you never get involved with anyone on shore.

Er, no. Your Child and your Scion are completely separate. Losing your Sweetheart and Child (such as through an affair) has no effect on your Scion, though it can prevent you from creating one by removing your Child prematurely.

Yes... I use this..... once your kid heads out to zee.... feel free to diddle to your heart's content.... your lover will likely leave you, but who cares? Their job is done!

The zee is a cruel beastie

I've propositioned one of the officers a while back already, and nothing's happened yet. Do I just have to wait or?

Things progressed much faster with the sweetheart in London, hah!

I think you only get the option for another tryst when terror is above 50 or 60?
