Where are all the monsters/enemies?
Just bought the game and I think it's awesome, except for despite there being all these weapon and combat things that you can buy and upgrade, I haven't seen a single monster in like 6 monsters of play time except for the first tutorial crab.

So what gives? I've got like 70% of this map explored and nothing to shoot :*(

I also updated the stories by registering an account (not sure if that broke something)

There are certain spots of the zee where you usually see monsters or other ships, but you'll be zailing uninterrupted most of the time.

It's odd that you're not seeing monsters. Normally you'd expect to see things like:
-Lifebergs in the Northwest
-Iron Republic warships in the southwest
-Blue Prophets in the South.

Morays in Port Cecil
Khanate Trimarams around Khan's Heart/Glory
Faustic Corsairs around center north
Glorious Dreadnoughts around southeast
Crabs increasing in size the more east you are

Among other stuff

I think maybe this is a bug, I just came looking to see if anyone had the same problem. I just bought the game last night and in the first couple of games ran into plenty of crab thingies, pirates etc., but now the sea is bereft of absolutely any enemies whatsoever.

Start a new game and go north towards Venderbight. Then keep going north (you should encounter a Batswarm, directly north of Venderbight's port). Keep going north towards Venderbight and you'll encounter at least one Lifeberg near the Censors Arch. Then there are one or two more farther North.

Your pirates were around Gaiders Mourn, probably, and the smaller crabs were around Mutton Island?. The farther out you go, youll find more. If you're still finding nothing i'm not sure what to say. never heard of this problem.

Wait until the Blue Prophets call your name brah. Then you'll be fighting some monsters. Or that moment you first see the Tree of Ages....

This might be something with a recent update, I know they changed the way enemies spawned because it could make games unwinnable with too many spawning, and the fix seems to have made almost nothing spawn. I started playing again in the last few days, uncovered about 3/4 of the map, and have seen nothing except the occasional neutral ship.

Yeah as I said, I found plenty of stuff in my first couple of games - including those very bats and pirates you're talking about, and ran into (and away from) bound sharks and things further out to sea, but in my last couple of games there's been literally nothing. I experimentally sailed off the north of the map, got beamed to the hellgate place in the far north east, made it all the way back to Fallen London by the skin of my teeth, met Mr Sacks, ferried him all over the place and made another trip across map and nearly all the way back again (before dying), and encountered literally zero ships or creatures. I sold my deck gun for food because there was nothing to fire it at! In my subsequent, current game, the story is the same. Zero enemies.

I had wondered if it was something to do with retaining the chart from my predecessor captain, but that didn't have any effect on my first couple of games, and obviously I hadn't cleared the map entirely, or anything. So something seems to be amiss.

As a beginner to the game I assume it makes it waaaaay easier overall, but I am actually missing the easy-to-beat pirates, who seem to act as handy mid-ocean supply top-ups.

I've now explored every tile on the map in my current game, have never seen an enemy. It must be a glitch, I've submitted a bug report.

I did just find a fix, though it almost immediately cost me my character in combat with a pirate. Opting into the new Unity beta seems to have restored all enemies.

I had this problem once! About a month ago. It resolved itself when my captain died.

@Mac
Is it possible to have both the Unity 5 and Zubmariner beta activated?
Elitewrecker PT Sep 15, 2016 @ 4:28am
Oh ok, thanks.
