Blue Ships??
Quick question. I see blue ships all the time in the game. No idea what they are or for what purpose they are there. But they'll have ship names and the types of ships they are listed when I click them. Are they just NPCs or people in game? o3o

They're NPC's but they're not fully understood, they'll randomly disappear, if you destroy them you increase your suspicion in London I think.

Good to know. Maybe they have something to do with being a pirate or something. Dunno. Thank you.

Failbetter tried implementing "neutral" steamers a while back- there were problems with them sailing through islands I think? I guess they tried re-enabling them for Zubmariner, or something?

I don't believe they ever disabled them. I always saw them every now and then.

I've suspected they may be other players

Weird. I haven't seen them in AGES.

Nope. There'd be a lot more random swerving and spinning in circles then, wouldn't you think? :P

It's good to see everyone's just as confused about them as I am. I've kinda wanted to shoot them to see what happens, but my strict moral code as a Zee Captain always forbids me.
...Granted I'm half mad and part cannibal now, BUT I HAVE STANDARDS DAMMIT.

I think if you trawled through the Failbetter blog posts, you'd probably find the Early Access-era post where they mention adding them- it was basically to make the Zee feel a little more "popuiated", since you're definitely not the only tramp steamer captain who isn't a pirate.

How exactly does one become "part cannibal"?

You only eat half a person obviously

Oh it works that way. I was guessing that it was short for part-time cannibal. As in "I only eat human flesh on weekends."

Aye laddie. I only eats people on the weekends. Usually with a side of fungal crackers and a bottle of Greyfields.
(...It's what happens to me when I go searching for Gant during the NEATHBOW quest. A weeping scar is only given to a person with cannibal taint and a nightmare. So my Zee Captains are usually eating someone. lel)
