Lifeberg Hunting Nerfed?
Recently, I found that I was running out of money, after another failed trade venture up the Cumean Canal. As usual, I decided to go hunt some lifebergs, in the hopes that they would give a few captivating treasures. To my surprise, I got a lot of food, some tales of terror, an outlandish artifact, and a sour taste in my mouth after killing about ten lifebergs. I don't know the exact odds of a lifeberg dropping a captivating treasure, but I usually get at least one from that many lifebergs. They have clearly changed the drops of lifebergs, since I never recieved food from them before, but have they removed captivating treasures entirely from their drops. Any information, anecdotal or based on the code of the game, would be appreciated.

I've been hunting Lifebergs since Steam launch. I've only seen a captivating treasure drop once. They've dropped fuel, food (peaches), wine, zzoup, silk, tails of terror, journals, captivating treasures, and once a strange catch.

So, it sounds like the RNG was in your favour and is no longer.

Hmph. I found two captivating treasures in row once, after my first bout at this after killing 10 or so. I got them pretty consistently. It was how I made most of my money. Weird. Either way, I think I'll be save-scumming at mutton isle for a little until I can figure this out.

You got very lucky then. I've killed somewhere in the realm of 60-70 [judging by Zee stories], and I've only had one drop. Besides, there are easier ways to make money currently. I net about 1k echoes for a grand loop, currently. Takes less time and has greater earning poential then waiting for a gem.

I've never made that much from a big loop across the zee, I usually gain too much terror because I've been gimped by nightmares, and have to make a run to london early. Maybe I just suck. About 300 or so can be made from port reports, 150 from strategic information, 55 from tomb colonists and recent news sold at venderblight, and 120 from clay men. That's 625 guaranteed, and a little more from loot. I have no idea how people make thousands from these loops.

You net another 300 from Stonesouls, plus nearly 800 every other run with blemmigans. You should get less than 50 terror for a full loop, plus some possible reductions based on events.

Just make sure you don't start the run with too much terror.

Clearly I need more cargo space than the starting boat. I need 20 for the salt lions, 3 for blemmigan, 6 for Clay men, and 3 for Tomb colonists. Now, I don't usually have all of these things at once, but you figure that I need at least 15 for fuel to Mt. Palmerston, 15 from Palmerston to at least halfway home, and that doesn't include space for foodfood. I usually also take mushroom wine to vinderbight.

I need the cargo boat. I think it is called the merchant cruiser.

Wait... 800 from blemmigans? I... how? I have no idea what the blemmigans do, apparently.

Transplant 7 and get a reward.

The Merchant vessel is nice. I'm now torn between buying a Mansion or just sitting on the echoes.

Alright, I'll try that. Thanks for all the help.

Yea, and if you have Godfall on your loop, it's a Blemmigan sink right now. Atleast, it's glitched as such in my game. No need to travel, just spam them off there. Also, once you can afford the Merchant ship, you can make a butt load of Echoes per load. If you're lucky like me, you can load up 80 stones in one run in the Merch Boat, since it's close enough to London to get back on 10 Fuel and 10 Supplies with a full crew.

For those still rocking the starting boat, I owe an explanation. With the Serp Engine, Maybe's Daugher for a little Engine boost, and 30 crew on the Merchant ship, you go through Supplies at almost the same rate as fuel. I mention it just because I'm remembering that, with the Starter ship, I could /start/ my Vander/Lion run with 10 fuel and 5 Supplies and have no problem, since supplies last much longer with only 10 crew...

Well, I got a captivating treasure this morning, and my lucky bastard friend got three, so. But then I've been super no-lifing them pretty much all day.
