Best ship?
Is the corvette better or the frigate? For fuel efficiency I suppose

Fulgent impeller regardless the ship. Kind of remember that even while lighter ships supposedly travel faster and therefore would mean a saving in fuel, the difference is quite small. Even more, if we recall that the merchant has nearly double cargo space, it would be a more efficient way of moving goodies around.

As already stated, if you want fuel efficiency, it's in the engines, ideally starter->Serpentine->Fulgent Impeller. As for "best ship" otherwise, Firepower+Speed=Frigate, Firepower+Hull=Dreadnought, Trading+Quests=Carrying Lots of Stuff=Merchant Cruiser.

The Frigate's larger hold is its main advantage over the Corvette. You can't get the Impeller while running a Corvette and Coffee runs to the surface are much harder to do. The Frigate is the best all-around ship IMHO - you can't go wrong with that one.

The corvette is the stepping stone to easy monster hunting for money.

The Cutter can also be a monster killer (it's a lot cheaper too) - had a recent game with the Cutter exclusively. It can mount the Bandersnatch (forward weapon with stagger) along with a deck weapon - raise your mirrors to get your ROF high and you'll be able to take on most monsters including Flukes - and run away from the biggest threats. Stagger will prevent return fire. The key is to not get hit, which is doable with practice and take really good care of your crew. It's Hold isn't really 10 smaller in practice because it will consume a lot less supplies.
