Regaining Scion

So, on my second captain, I gained a sweetheart, a child, and sent him to Zee, gaining the Scion quality. After cheating with an officer, my lady left me and took the kid with her but at the end of my career I still had Scion and got two legacies.

Now, on my 3rd captain a curse took away my Scion quality.Can I get it back this captain if I have a child? Surprisingly, I haven't had one yet though I've played this captain for quite some time. Is that because I already had Scion?

It should be possible (assuming it's the Zee Fever or something similar that locks you out when you do have a child), but I'm disinclined to go digging through the files to make certain.

I do. On my current captain, the only thing listed under romance is "Someone back home".

Yup. I had Scion from a previous captain. The real frustrating part is that I was one trip to the surface from ending the Anarchist storyline and retiring to get the last of my legacy books. I had no chance to remove the curse as it took effect my next stop in London. Now I'm gonna lose half my cash. Does anyone know exactly how much you need for the Wealth ambition? That would make me feel a little better if I could get it now before I lose all that money.

Well in this case I guess just stick around a while longer. Get a new child.

In the future, once you have a scion, stick to shipboard romance on future captains.

There's also an item you can get from Fallen London that will remove Salt's Curse once per captain.

It both gives you Salt's Attention and removes Salt's Curse. You need to have learned about the Gods of the Zee during a random event though.

Yes, at least until I get the achievement.

Ah well, I was gonna suggest saving and finishing the game to see if you could still choose two legacies.

Depends. A Scion is more valuable than any of the other things it gives, but ofc if you have time to remove the curse by other means...

Eh. He's definitely lost the Scion quality. The only way to avoid that is to not have Someone Back Home or get rid of the curse before returning to London.

You can also remove it in Whither.

If only I came back to the forum before landing in London. Anyway, I went back, finished the Wealth ambition and settled for half my cash. At least I managed to get the last of the legacy books and a head start with 25 Gs. And a little smarter due to the school of Hard Knocks.
