There's also an item you can get from Fallen London that will remove Salt's Curse once per captain.
It both gives you Salt's Attention and removes Salt's Curse. You need to have learned about the Gods of the Zee during a random event though.

Eh. He's definitely lost the Scion quality. The only way to avoid that is to not have Someone Back Home or get rid of the curse before returning to London.
You can also remove it in Whither.
