How do you fill out the inland areas on the map?

Being a massive completionist it makes my blood boil when there are parts inland where I can't get to but are a blank spot on my map. Is there any way to get those areas filled out or do I have to just deal with it?

i've fully revealed the entire map and didn't struggle with any inland areas. Other than pointing your ship directly at the coast, sailing right up to it and shining your light inland there's not much else you can do, must of got unlucky with how some of your islands spawned. Some sections are easier to reveal while underwater too.

Just sail along the entire coast - sometimes the reveal areas are not very obvious, and you reveal sections that are situated in different "quarters" diagonally adjacent to your ship, if that makes sense.

Woof, having played a the game almost exactly like you to start, I would advised that you put your (our) compulsion for clean maps out of your mind. Given the amount of dying there is in the game, gettinga clean mask is not really a great way to spend your time...

Sometimes you'll get those blank spots on the map at the edge. They'll fill in when you explore seemingly unrelated nearby places. Don't worry about them.
