This quest is pretty mischievous to put in there right at the beginning because it is basically a suicide mission without a fast engine even if you have visited all the necessary ports already. I had this bastard start eating my crew before I even got to the first port!

The game literally out of character warns you it's ok not to take it and dangerous at the start.

You deserve Mr. Sacks.

A beginner's trap, I had to kick this lunatic off before he took me, he nearly blew my ship up!

I don't remember seeing a warning anywhere, except for the wiki of course.

It's in the intro text not to take it until you've explored the primary trading ports. It doesn't tell you that even if you have, he'll start murdering you even if you go directly to the first port and attack you three times before you even get there.

He did it first about three minutes in, and then two minutes later, twice within a minute of each other.

Then not again until once slightly before Avid Horizon.

I knew the ports, I just didn't have time to get to them.

I guess it´s best to equip the Avid supressor and spam full power for that quest. I personally got it equipped all the time anyway, saves a lot of time.

This.

I have the supressor and the impeller engine. Mr.Sacks doesn't scare me.
If he tries anything, I'll cook him in the engine.
The idea for this quest could have worked if the whole time limit thing wasn't completely luck based, the Sacks events are just pure luck, you can be as fast as you want to be but when the RNG God wants to mess with you he will just throw all the three events really quickly at you and there will be nothing to do about it but give up after the second event and forget about everything you did before this.

I have yet to not complete it out of four times, twice before Zubmariner, but three of those times, I've had the Impeller and Suppressor. Time number three I had the Illyrian and no Suppressor and had to buy extra crew to feed Mr. Snacks.

Haha, he was easy on me, he just complained once to me about being slow when we were going to Mutton island, but I calmed him down somehow, then he was calm all trip to Avid horizon, then I was happy to discover my rewards in London. But I can say, he was creeping me out, especially with what we delivered... and then snow child... Who was I helping??? It was scariest moment in the game so far for me.

I like it. It's one of the easiest ways to make a huge profit at the start of a new captain's lifetime on the Zee. In fact, navigating and exploring the first couple of runs and back to London will be for the purpose of discovering the locations of Mt Palmerstone, Avid Horizon and the Khanate, in order that I can complete the Mr Sacks quest quickly and easily even with the starter ship.
Remember, you can start it at any time. It only requires handing in the port report for Avid Horizon and then it will sit there waiting for you to activate it. So, don't go in blind. Prepare and plan for it and it will be easy.
I prefer to use the blood swap for the first Mr Sacks and then in the next lifetime I'll go for the Snow Child.

The first time I encountered Mr Sacks was during my third captain. I already found necessary ports and easily finished that quest. The second time (which is happening right now) I found Mutton Island Avid Horizon but neither Pigmonte or the Khan...

I've run afoul of Mr. Sacks before, but I dont' think his quest is all that bad. In my game, there was a blue letter disclaimer that you didn't need to take him. At any rate, you're supposed to die every now and then. If you know all the ports and you make a point of going to them straight away, even a slow ship can make it without undue problems. I've lost some crew to Mr. Sacks also, but even when I first started, no wiki, just puttering around it's not like I ever thought it was a noob trap.

I'd wait until you get a somewhat faster engine to do Mr. Sacks. The Sacks-related events that can kill you appear to occur more or less at random and the more time you spend, the more likely you'll get a series of them. I've had them occur ridiculously quickly and nearly got killed even with the Illyrian and Avid Suppressor.
