Report a translation problem
I've seen this in some text but not other text in this game for well over a year, although it seems somewhat less prevalent now. When I see it (like in the first picture), it is the visual equivalent of nails screeching down a blackboard. It is absolutely awful, and I can't stand to look at it.
Trying to read it actually makes my vision blur for about a minute after seeing it.
This has been such a consistently reported item that it is obvious a large percentage of people do have issues with this text.
That answer is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, many people have been complaining about it for months.
I've just dropped this game due to the problem, the diifference between sharp and blurry text is just hurtinh my eyes.
Yeah, for real. Astounding how they literally closed their eyes on this matter. I also answered back but never got a reply from them. "Case dismissed. Next!"
I wonder if the same thing is happening with Sunless Skies or if they managed to render the text there the way it's supposed to be.
What are "reshade" and "finesharp" though please?
https://reshade.me
It's a post processing software that allows you to change the look of games that have been injected with. You can add bloom, color-correct, increase/decrease saturation, change contrast, add depth of field, sharpen and much more. some of the the effects take a toll on your fps but for SS you won't notice any difference at all in your frame rate.
Finesharp is one of the filters you can play with and I found out that works nice with text.
it still blurs out in places, but the bigger size means I don't have to strain to read it so all good.
Same here. I've been waiting for a fix since release. I can't play that damn game unless it's fixed but apparently it will never happen. They released a new game just now and I would love to play it. Since this dev apparently doesn't care too much about fixing the old game after many years, I'm not gonna buy a new one with a perspective of the same fate.
1. FineSharp
2. AdaptiveSharpen
3. HighPassSharpen
Unfortunately, these effects likewise -- unacceptably! -- sharpened non-text elements.
For me, AdaptiveSharpen hit the acceptable middle ground, but it's still not what I would want for a nice, long, immersive session. Such a shame! I was starting to really enjoy this game.
Anyway, thanks for the work-around.
Quality: Sublime
Resolution: 2560x1440 (i.e., native)
Window Mode: Fullscreen
Screen Effects: Enabled
UI scale: 2x
Font scale: 1x
Even a UI scale of 1.9 is noticeably less clear. It's a bit of a bummer that the UI elements cover so much of the screen now, and some of the assets (e.g., icons in the action bar) are a bit blurry, but I spend far less time looking at those than at text so I'm a happy camper!
