I primarily make my money through port reports and downing ships. There is what I think an easily exploitable ship AI behavior. If you go straight up to them, they tend to turn away from you and sail some distance away. Hound them and stay as close to them as possible and they will continue doing this, meaning they usually point away from you and not shooting at you.
Hunter's Keep come in real handy for reducing Terror and gaining Supplies. Note that it is a finite resource for this.
I'd recommend doing the Cladery Heir's quest eventually as that one rewards you with a really good ship (not as good as the Dreadnaught I think but that's hideously expensive). I finished it fairly early, but I also save scummed to hell to pass checks that I have no business passing. I tend to buy the Phorcyd-class Corvette before doing that so I can at least survive more fights and earn more loots.
Doing delivery for Salt Lions I found was one of the most effective way to make money early game. Be warned that this is finite.
I found that getting a good engine is among the most useful things to do. Not only does it help getting to places faster and allow you to more easily outrun problematic enemies (*cough* Mt Nomad), it also save supplies in the long run.
Do not attempt to sail all the way to the edge of the map unless you really know what you are doing. The Unterzee works in mysterious ways.
I like getting Stone's attention to have the option of sacrificing to her when I'm low on fuels (only if I don't have any existing wound already). That adds one wound for fuel, which is very manageable once you arrive at London. I really wouldn't recommend sacrificing to Salt. Storm is very risky (50% chance of it just hurting you).
Also yeah taking on Mt Nomad, a literal floating mountain and (literal) demigod of the Unterzee that weaponize the Correspondence, is probably a poor idea.
currently i just bought the 900 dollar hull weapon and made that back hunting pirate poet. I think i'm gonna do that for a while till i can afford the corvette and then a better engine
I love the pirate poet she's such a gold mine, sometimes i encounter her twice on a run
she hangs out around bonny reef godfall and north east of salt lions
next im gonna get the impeller and then finish up everything else i wanna do
i like my starting ship so much though don't know if i wanna change,
case closed guys i think i know what i want to do
thx all
thanks for the input
