10 Years At Zee

This is my third captain and I'm at the point of the game where almost all stories are finished (only a few zubmarine ones left) and running around with Dreadnought + Avid while sitting on 60k echoes just killing stuff around the map and i still don't even have the 5 Years At Zee.

How the heck am i gonna get the 10 Years one? Is there a faster way to do this? Do SAYs have anything to do with it?

IIRC one SAY is one ingame day, if you want to get that achievement you are going to have to do alot of waiting(you can always leave the game on while you are browsing the steam web browser if you want to, you would have to buy fuel and supplies at times and that's basically it, but it will still take a long time to do).

If you're taking the sit at port approach Frostfound would be a good spot since it gives 1 fuel, 1 supply, and -10 terror. Any place with - terror and + supply would work since you can just turn off the engine and light to not use fuel.

I do that at Visage sometimes to wipe out terror and/or cash in excess supplies.

Considering 1 ingame day is one SAY (1 SAY is 60secs) I would have to wait about 350 mins per year. That's about 1750 mins for the 5 years one.

Couldn't really wait that long in port doing nothing at all so i went ahead and cheated a bit. (I think I'm kinda excused since I pretty much did everything there is to do in game)

Type %appdata% in search if you can't find it. In constants open the navigation file with notepad.(Ignore the _import ones). Now just change the SAY value from 60 to 1 save and close it. That's it.

So you get SAY every second. Alternatively, instead of changing the SAY mechanic, you could alter the save file itself and change the date, that way you don't affect anything in the game and next captains. Of course, you can just alter it back.

There's another way to speed up time. You have to retire in London and start a new captain, which will give you 30 days. Do this any number of times, it'll be much faster than waiting around. (you can save manually and get back to the captain after the achi)

You can also make it quicker by picking no past to jump over the initial choices. I usually set out immediately, discovered the first location (which gave me a date confirmation) and returned to London to retire again.

Note that you can only do this if you have an elegant townhouse, and of course since the achievement says 'in an unbroken lineage' you have to have a scion. I usually picked 2x50% money so I was taking all the riches with me.

I had to do it about 10 times, because I was already over the 9 year date. I think you get the achievement somewhere around 30th November 1987, but I got it earlier by a week.

i got 5 years by accident, i just kept retiring to get scion and 100% money passed on.
