Glad you said this!!
I am so tired of the "Anti SR IV" rhetoric that tries to paint SR IV as low brow and only fun to "new fans" and kiddies. By the way LMAO I remember SR fans saying the same thing about SRTT when it launched.
I have been a HUGE SR fan since 2006, when the first game launched as a 360 exclusive. My opinion is that the game was, and still is, awesome. As is SR2. I can jump intpo Stillwater any time and have a blast. Just as I can with Steelport. Honestly, I think that the way Volition evolved the franchise was brilliant! It started out as a great alternative to GTA, but the critics slammed it as a "GTA clone" even though it wasn't. I understand why, though, because critics have to play hundreds of games to write their reviews. And SR and SR2 can easily "seem" like derivative games if you only play it long enough to write your article and review.
But SRTT and IV really set the franchise apart as "not GTA," which is great. And by the way, I am a HUGE GTA fan, too. Well all except for GTA Snore, that is. But SR2 will always have a special place in my heart, because I was so devastatingly disappointed in GTA IV that SR2 really gave me what I was hoping GTA IV would be, but wasn't.
This isn't saints row, it never claimed to be saints row, it hasn't "all come to this", people need to stop pretending they were ever promised this would be more saints row
This is Saints Row.
This is what it has become. The series went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Everyone knows, you never go full ♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is how it ends.
But, don't take my word for it! Just look at the reviews.
Actually, the beauty of SR is the series got better and better as time progressed. Yet, they are ALL amazing games in their own way. SR2 improved on SR. SRTT was much more over the top, and even better than SR2, and finally SRIV and GooH evolved into the pinncacle of the series, and the best the franchise had to offer.
What sets SR apart from other franchises is that in 4 full games and one aweome add-on, it became so wildly different, yet all games, to this day, are still incredibly fun. If I want a more grounded Gangsta street game, I have the first two, a little more Sci Fi, yet still gang oriented, there is SRTT, and finally, full blown superpower SR I have SR IV and GooH.
One series, SO MANY awesome genres covered.
A new game like SR2 or 3 with good modsupport whould be a dream.
I loved Tetris and Ms Pacman in their times, too. Don't think they need to be brought back to life either,
From reviews I have read about Agents of Mayhem, I can say it is not the same level as Saint's Row and would be better to see a cartoon movie or animated series of Agents of Mayhem. Maybe some day I will give a try of this game to make my own opinion clearer.
But AoM is a completely different IP. The ONLY overlap at all is in a few cookies tossed to SR fans as little Easter Eggs, nothing more.
lol Guys, agree to disagree.
I liked all the SR games, I think 3 was better than 4, but I still enjoyed 4 and Gat out of Hell
My only point in this thread is people need to stop comparing SR with AoM, AoM doesn't even try to be saints row and should be judged on its own
No, don't misunderstand, I am 100%, totally with you on that. In no way do I see AoM as a SR sequel or some next step in the evolution of that franchise.
Hell, I bought and downloaded/installed AoM and all the extra DLC, but in no way am I going into this expecting some SR sequel. To me, it looks more like an even wackier Crackdown. lol But I guess I will find out soon enough when I boot up the game and try it out.
My only point was that, for a lot of people who dislike SR IV or claim things like, "It's not a real SR game!" I can see why they would make the mistake in reasoning to believe that AoM is really the next SR. Not that I agree with them, only that if I hated SRIV the way these people do, I might think the same way, even though I would be wrong to believe that about AoM.
