SSE4.1 issues AM2 NOT supported confirmed by volition support
Publicado originalmente por V UncleSam:
I've confirmed that the game will most likely not work on any AM2.

Trying to start my game and it not running brought back swift memories of the launch of mafia 3 which had phenom II cpu owners unable to play due to no SSE support. it took them months to patch it so ppl could play. I've noticed that a few ppl with older phenom II are not able to launch teh game. Can anyone from Volition give an official answer on this I wonder?

November UPDATE: Game now Launches on Phenom II x4.

I am happy to tell you that after now rebuying the game for a second time it does indeed now launch on my PC thanks to the new patch. Not only that but it plays very well on a mixture of medium and high settings at 1080p. Thanks Volition. I'd given up all hope of ever playing this the first time I bought it and it goes to show that not everything consumers wish for falls directly on deaf ears. It's a very fun game. Thanks again.

Yeah i may be running an old 3.6ghz cpu and a 4 gig gfx card but believe you may these things in unison can still do absolute wonders together as long as the game i am playing is well optimised and well supported. I am currently replaying warframe and I have that game running amazing at 1080 even with physx turned on you would easily think i was running a much newer system than I actually am. People need ot stop associating owning older hardware with not being able to run anything new because my machine can run anything you throw at it at a solid 30 or even 60 at 1080 if my cpu is fully supported by the game. My machine is far from inferior.

From the bug / known issues thread. Posted by IdolNinja:

"Are CPUs without SSE 4.1/4.2 supported?
http://steamcommunity.com/app/304530/discussions/0/1470841715981151940/

STATUS: RESOLVED

AM2/AM3 socket CPUs like the AMD Phenom class (and lower) do not have SSE 4.1/4.2 support and are below minimum requirements. They will not be able run the game."

Looks like we're SOL. I've requested a refund. First one ever for me, kind of sad.

Top tier dev can't patch in support that Hello Games was able to do for NMS in a few hours. What a shame. Volition done broke my heart. :sr4eagle::angrytiger:

i have an AMD Phenom processor, will there ever be a compatability update or will i just get a refund?
zmonkey 15 AGO 2017 a las 19:53
@Ian: Looks like you're going to need to get a refund, sorry to say, or upgrade your CPU to one that has the SSE4.1/4.2 instruction set compatibility (which your motherboard may very well support, given that mine did). As was stated by UncleSam here earlier, FX series chips will run the game, which fortunately includes a few processors that are compatible with my motherboard, and hopefully the same is true for you, assuming you're willing to invest in a new CPU to play this game. It is a shame that they won't patch in a previous instruction set to allow us to squeeze a little more use out of our admittedly dated systems, but SSE4.1 has, as others have noted, been out for quite some time now. I don't think it's necessarily fair to hold the industry back and waste their time coding old instruction sets in for hardware that, while certainly not obsolete, is most definitely dated.

@Jestre: Thanks for the update. At least I'll get to play it once I finish upgrading my CPU.

More and more new games will be headed this way.

Destiny 2 PC Beta Minimum System Requirements

CPU: Intel i3-3250, AMD FX-4350, or equivalent
GPU: GeForce GTX 660 / GeForce GTX 1050
RAM: 6GB

So i take it from that AM2 Phenom II owners won't be playing Destiny 2 either. Just a heads up.

Alright, I just dropped in an AMD FX-6300 (3.5GHz Hexacore CPU) and the game works. Since this is only one generation newer than my old one, it is confirmed that the game requires SSE4.1/4.2. I'm happy to be able to play the game now, but still miffed that I had to do this in the first place...

Thank you for the update. I was hoping you'd return with the results.

Enjoy the game!

Hmm... the Phenom processor class is from 2008. It's nearly 10 years old now. I'm normally on the side of the consumer, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that's old.

The Phenom 2 class came out in 2010, that's less old, but it's still going on 7 years old at this point. There's no reason why anyone should have these chips if they're planning on playing the newest games. I'm not trying to sound elitist, but there have been so many advances in processor operations and logic that it's simply insane to expect them to work forever.

Except they still work great with many new games...

If that's the case, I'm guessing my 2014 Core i7 4790k still has some decent life left in it. lol
Mikey_irl 16 AGO 2017 a las 19:06
Phenom II 1090t black, as used by many many games, still holds up with most game in a rig with decent other components. Lack of support is a total Cop-out ..

Furious... this should have been stated in the system requirments....it is definetly not....
Povis 16 AGO 2017 a las 19:07
I can confirm that game doesn't start.
