this! so much! what a great that was. dayum!
Just to repeat a few ones and offer some new suggestions.
Since you loved LIMBO and INSIDE, The Swapper - as some have suggested - is your best bet. Some bits can get a bit challenging, but most of the puzzles are almost always fair (with some trial and error). The art was actually created using clay and then digitized into the background. Great effect. Whole vibe of the game is gloomy, too, like Limbo / Inside.
You can also try The Fall. I didn't like the middle sections cause it seemed to drag on a lot, but the story is great and unique. Definitely worth a try, and the game doesn't cost much on Steam either.
There's also Monochroma - which, as the name suggests, uses a lot of monochromatic colors in its design. The movement is a bit clunky but some bits are really fun. Most Steam players have a love/hate relationship with the game but it's worth checking out regardless.
Selma and the Wisp is a pretty new release on Steam too. It's a bit different from Inside / Limbo, since you control a wisp with Selma following you. But it's got a mega Very Positive rating and is a side-scroller with great visual flair. It's much more surreal too, but less 'lonesome' than Playdead's games. Solid stuff.
Also try out Typoman for something a bit different. Side-scroller, dark setting, VERY creative alphabet puzzles, and a pleasure to play.
You can also check out a few other games like Limbo / Inside from this list of atmospheric side-scrolling games[www.gameslikezone.com]. There are also a few videos on YouTube that offer recommendations (just search 'games like Inside' or 'games like Limbo').
Good luck!
