Game loaded fine first time, now loads into a grey screen...
Hey there, as the title says the game loaded the first time I played it but now when I start it, it loads into a grey screen... The game is running, I can here footsteps when I move and when I press escape the screen goes black instead. I've tried delting and reinstalling the game, deleting my save as well as checking the files but nothing seems to help... any ideas?

Check that video drivers are up-to-date.
If you have system with 2 different GPUs try enabling one or another for this game.
Try windowed mode, add this to launch parameters:
-screen-fullscreen 0
Just tried starting it in windowed mode and it appeared like this: http://imgur.com/uHfV7pt which... was unexpected? I couldn't click minimise, maximise or close either... weird

It's unexpected. I get normal windowed game.
I have the same exact issues. What are your specs Jothel?

Mine are: i5 6600K 3.5 ghz, 16 gb RAM, GTX 1080, dx 12, driver version 10.18.13.6881, 1920x1080 (60hz)
My game works fine on these specs:
Desktop Intel i5-4xxx (don't really remember), GTX 980, 1920x1080 (120Hz)
Laptop Intel i5-4200U, Intel HD 4400/Nvidia GT 730M, 1920x1080 (60Hz) on both graphics adapters.
Both have Win10 x64 & latest drivers.

AFAIK game does not use DX12.
So after some reading/ trial&error, the game now loads without any white/grey/black screen when I run it with these commands: -screen-width 1024 -screen-height 786

I can then proceed to enlarge the small window I get and it works smoothly.

Perhaps this helps Jothel too!

I'll try just forcing it to run at my native resolution (1920x1080) and report back here!
-screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080

Works too!

Funnily enough this game works with no problem on my 6 year old laptop! :D But now it works on my new rig too! Hope this helps!
Do you have additional displays connected, TV for example? That may confuse some games.
I know some OpenGL games don't start with TVs due to their low refresh rate.

One more way to try is to use DX9 insteand of DX11:
-force-d3d9
In fact I did have a TV connected to my Laptop, which worked fine. To this PC I have only connected a 144hz monitor via Display port. Perhaps thats too much and thus confused it too?
I have the exact problem. Ran it perfectly the first time and then I wasn't able to finish it because of the damn gray screen. I however also have an additional (TV) screen connected on which I play games using Big Picture Mode. Thanks for the help!
Oh my god, I downloaded the creator's update for Windows 10 a year ago and had the same problem until now! I fixed it with the help of the "-screen-fullscreen 0" launch options; if you just change that 0 to 1, it fixed the error for me and you won't have to change your DirectX setting or manually specifying a resolution.
im on windows 10 and ihave it say INSIDE LOADING on the front but then it crashes
I am also having this problem. I played the game a few times. Moved my computer and when I tried playing the game, it was minimized on my taskbar. I could hear it, but I couldn't see anything.

Then I installed Batman: Telltale Heart, a much bigger game, to see if it would work, and it did. So, I switched back to Inside and this time there's a display, but now it's a gray screen with sound. The screen is full. I can only get out of the game by doing alt+tab and going to a different program, although if I hit escape, the screen turns dark, presumably because the game is paused. I might be able to hit "exit game" if I knew how many lines to go down.

Drivers updated. Extra monitor connected and disconnected. Deleted and downloaded more than once, both the game and Steam. I could blame my specs if the game had never worked, but it worked just fine before. I also played Limbo on this computer prior to starting Inside. I don't know how to do some of the launch options that people have suggested.

At a loss here.
Hi @losoldato,

To get to the launch options, right-click the game in your library and select properties. In the General, section you should see a textfield for the launch options at the very bottom of the window that opens.
