First of all, the term "recovery" is used at several points. While this is a common term in fighting games, a completely new player may not recognize it. A single sentence along the lines of "Recovery is a state in which a player (in most cases) cannot perform any actions, and is vulnerable to certain attacks."
This addition would be especially helpful during the explanation of Guardbreaks - which notes that the player "always" gets the opportunity to counter GB. This is misleading. I suggest changing this to "GB's can be countered, leaving both players in neutral. However, a player performing certain actions will be vulnerable to guardbreaks, which removes their ability to counter. For example, landing a GB on an opponent who is dodging, winding up a heavy attack, or whiffed a bash will secure a punish. Learning when an opponent is vulnerable to guardbreaks is a very useful skill in For Honor."
I realize that the guide notes that GB's are used to "catch" dodges and such, but it does not explain why. The reason why is incredibly important, and should be included.
Next up, the wording in the deflect section that says "for some reason" is misleading. The window to perform deflects from top attacks is over twice as long. You don't need to include details about I-frames or anything - just change "for some reason"! This wording makes the decision to deflect top attacks sound preferential or arbitrary. It isn't. This simple change would be very useful to new players.
Finally, the description of enhanced attacks is strangely worded. I have got to be honest, I've read it over a number of times and am still don't entirely understand it. It seems to imply enhanced attacks can be used after a previous attack is blocked, but that's not true - normal attacks can follow previous blocked attacks. It is the "previous blocked attack" that is enhanced, not the attack that follows.
I would recommend completely changing this explanation. Something like "Enhanced attacks put the defender in recovery when blocked. This allows for the attacker to continue their chains. Normal attacks, by contrast, put the attacker in recovery when blocked. This gives the defender an opportunity to counter-attack.
I feel like if these were addressed, new players would have more complete information to work with as they get into the game. Especially the section about GB's - GB vulnerability is one of the most important aspects of combat in this game! It's important to get that right!
Regardless, I appreciate this post, and would welcome more like it in the future!
PS I really do not understand - with such skill requirment game - you post it more then after 5 yers - how dare u????
Make it into a mmorpg instead with castle siege and able to destroy walls and buildings ..
make a crafting, farming, building survival out of it in a gigantic huge open world with no limits, so if you walk to the end of the world you end up in the town you just started from after a LOOOONG period of time ..

Thanks! Yeah that does help! I have heard this thrown around a lot and had no idea what it was, thank you for replying ^^
We bullied the devs into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ fighting system and wanted a mechanic that lets us escape the consequences of our own mistake.
