Only in custom matches. For Vs AI matches with matchmaking, the bot level is determined based on player MMR.
The Arcade game mode is really good and fun in my opinion.
With gear score 0 you can start at GS 36 or 72 difficulty and get some really good matches especially if there are 3 bots fighting you at the same time.
But in Multiplayer game mode you only get one bot for one player and the players basically can't loose.
Even in the campaign you get a realistic difficulty to give the bots a chance.
Player vs AI in multiplayer needs to be changed.
Lvl 1 bots: perfect for beginners, barely put up a fight so you can focus on chaining attacks
Lvl 2 bots: will attack you and put up defence better than lvl 1
Lvl 3 bots: either a lvl 1 bot or will destroy you, a threat to even the most seasoned of veterans
It's exactly same issue with games like Chivalry and Mordhau - over time the player base has gotten smaller and more skilled, so new players coming in don't face people equally as new. It's much less of a problem if you have a very large population to maintain the loss of those players and bring in new ones, but it doesn't seem to be the case here.
It's a shame because those games I mentioned were extremely fun for the first year or so but as the player base dwindled only the hardcore remained, and you had to be really good to just have a chance in normal matches
People with loads of hours can still be bad at the game - that's what i've witnessed.
The matchmaking "skill check" or whatever is complete nonsense too the "on par" "more skilled" "less skilled" yet consistently see the opposite true of what it's supposed to be.
Outside of 1v1 Duels, which use their own independant ranking system, the matchmaking Is god awful.
Sure, someone with 2000 hours COULD be as bad as someone with 20 hours, but realistically this just never happens.
In order for this system to work, you need to have a different skill ranking depending on the character, like other fighting games like Tekken do. And even tekken gives you a minimum rank for the other characters depending on your highest ranked character, so you can't just switch character and smurf.
