Activation Key to redeem gift codes?

I started looking for information about gift codes and found a couple of them that give steel and other freebies. Thing is, when i try to use the codes with the Redeem Code option in game, it asks me to provide an activation key which I don't have or don't know how to find.

Can't I use the gift codes without that activation key? Anyone has the same problem?

Are you trying to unlock them in-game or via the Redemption Website[redeem.ubisoft.com]?

Hi, I tried both and I get a prompt asking for an Activation key. Also I contacted Ubisoft support and Steam support and got nothing.
