For Honor Won't Launch (The application couldn't start correctly Error 0xc0000005)
Anytime I try to launch the game I always get the splashscreen and the error message "The application couldn't start correctly".

I've tried a number of different things to try and fix this and nothing seems to change. I've tried the following:

- Running Steam and Ubisoft Connect as admin and in compatibility mode
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- Tried tweaking 3D settings in Nvidia settings
- Changed where the game was installed from HDD to SSD
- Repair the Easy anti cheat file

This is the only game I have an issue launching from my library and I should also mention that I have other Ubisoft games on Steam and I don't have any issues running them.

Does anyone know how to fix this or what may be causing the problem?

This may or may not help:
1. Verify the game files (Probably won't do anything)
2. Post this same thing to the player support tab (Might help)
3. Make a support ticket on the Ubisoft website (Might help)
4. Install For Honor on another PC, (JOKE INBOUND) especially one with ze windows 95 (BEST SOLUTION ;) ).

Hey,

This is a Windows error so I would suggest following the steps mentioned on their support page below on running a system file checker scan and see if this helps.

I just tried what the article said to do and it did repair some files (didn't look like they were related to the game) so I restarted my PC and the game is still unfortunately giving me the same error/issue.

Hello SkullCrush3r114, thanks for getting back to us.

I have seen this affect another game of ours, the error message meant some of the files became corrupted after the latest update and it could also affect the launch/.exe files.

In these cases, running the verify/validate game files tool in the launcher, repaired these files and allowed the players to launch their games again.

Please follow this guide from Steam on how to do this > https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB

Please note, that verifying game files can take several minutes to complete depending on the size of the game, and you may need to run the check two or three times also.

After trying this step, please re-launch the game and let me know what happens?

I did try verifying the files but that wasn't the issue. I just found out the issue was my antivirus was stopping the game from launching.

Thanks for getting back to us SkullCrush3r114, I'm glad to see you've been able to since find the cause!
