For Honor

For Honor

Ver estatísticas:
Pc crashes every time I start ForHonor
I have tried reinstalling the anti cheat and forhonor, ran it on admin but its the same. I always get a blue screen with the error code unexpected kernel mode trap. The two main causes are a faulty ram module or a old driver.
I don't get this on any other game so I'm confused. Last update everything was fine so idk what to do.
Any help would be nice : )

Hi all,

We're currently looking to get a bit more information in regards to these crashes. Are you queuing for any particular game mode? Are you seeing any warning messages about RAM space, etc? Any additional information would be a massive help.
Hey Yubble I think I have narrowed down the issue and it has to do with Easy Anti Cheat. The game asks for EAC to have admin privileges and then crashes soon after. The BSOD we are getting is "Kernel_mode_trap" which seem VERY likely it is an issue with EAC.

Like the people before me, it happens at startup. If it helps, I'm running a ryzen 2600 and a 1650 super with the newest drivers.

Everytime I try to load up For Honor, about 30 seconds in it crashes my entire PC and forces it to restart. I was playing less than 16 hours ago just fine no issues
Does it give you the error “unexpected kernel mode trap”? I’m just asking to make sure it’s not just me

I managed to play just fine yesterday. It literally BSODs if you minimise the screen.

ANY form of minimise, alt + tabbing, alt + enter etc causes a BSOD.

This isn't happening in any other games so it's For Honor only. That said, I've not tried anything else that uses the same anti-cheat, which seems to be where it's coming from.

If it helps:

It used to happen when i tried to go windowed mode or when the game launches in the background instead of taking over directly (pressing on it instantly makes a crash). In a very dumb attempt of mine I launched the game, let it boot and take over the screen by itself, it was functionnal. Yet when I wanted to check what would happen if I forced windowed (Alt+Enter) my computer immediately crashed with the same error 'unexpected kernel mode trap'. Furthermore, now that the game is set to windowed, it would crash EVERY single time i launched it, confirming the issue had to do with windowed/switching to or from windowed mode. I hope you find my experience with the crash useful.

Don't use a potato for a processor? Kind of sounds like you have a memory issue with your pc though. Or you need to run CCleaner, and reinstall some things.

And also, I recently tried to play Titanfall 2, and it wouldn't work, which it does now, but the issue was when Origin opened it was asking a question, but I didn't see it, and the game kept closing because I didn't answer it, which was about local and cloud saves, but yeah, you should see if your Ubisoft isn't acting up in some way. Or trying to update, or etc. That will cause it not to ever open with unresolved conflicts.

Update: Guys I think I managed to solve the issue (partially) at least for now until Ubisoft finds a full solution for it.

I have read some ppl here and there mentioning that the issue is related to "windowed screen mode".

Personally, my default display mode in any game is usually Full-screen, and since i can't check the current display mode in "For Honor" as it crashes every time when i try to launch it, I went to NVIDIA Geforce Experience, and checked "For Honor" settings from the optimization panel, and guess what, I found it in "windowed mode", I dunno why or when that happened, but it seems like something reverted the display mode from full screen to windowed, and for some reason when the game currently runs in "windowed" mode, there is some sort of conflict happens and triggers the BSOD crash, it could be from Easy anti-cheat files since it is the last thing i remember that the game asked to update before the crash fest started to occur, or it could be something else but it is indeed not a display driver or a system issue, it is totally from the game's end.

Anyways, I changed (optimized) the settings from there (Nvidia experience) from windowed to full-screen, and launched the game and it worked fine. Yet, if you tried to Alt+ Tab, the PC will directly crash again, so when you open the game in full-screen, just keep playing and close it normally and do not alt+ tab at all until we get a full fix for this issue.

I hope this helps, especially for Nvidia video card users. :steamfacepalm:

Unfortunatly didnt help( But it really can be coused by AntiCheat, before first crash it asked me allow changes. It was never any messages from Anti-cheat before.

Find solution for me. If minimize FH window to taskbar by clickin to other window while FH loading, whait some until intro, and click to FH window on taskbar it will work. Find out accidently when I tried to run through GeForce Experience and clicked on the GeForce Experience window during loading. I think FH in winow cause crash. If u use full screen mode it start in window and then switch to full screen, but now because of this bug it cant switch and crush. Hope it will help.
