wtf is code?
I have one UPlay account. I'm not sure the theory even makes sense though. We downloaded a free copy through Steam. Unless Ubisoft assumed that every single Steam user already has a Uplay account that is linked to them, they would have to allow for some way for new users to get the product, and until they create some sort of link, it's impossible that that free Steam download could translate to a game automatically appearing in your UPlay library, triggered by a Steam activation.
For the record, I had Uplay open aswell; so it was linked, and my Uplay account was already linked due Driver San Francisco.

If you're being asked for an activation key, could you verify your game files here.
Once that's done, make sure you run Steam and Uplay PC as administrator and then launch the game.
Let me know if you're still having issues after trying this out!

When you claim the game through Big Picture Mode, then hit the install button, the file that it downloads is some sort of beta/test environment thing (I can't recall the exact name at the moment). I exited Big Picture Mode, found For Honor in my library, and noticed that in there, without BPM, it was a separate listing from the version I had downloaded. I initiated that download, got rid of the first one, and everything is all right now.
Does the icon for the game/file you downloaded say beta anywhere in it? And does it have proper cover art attached to it?
