Disk Write Error when installing For Honor
So today I tried to use a controller for XBOX with the game. It led to many crashes, saying files were broken, I was trying to violate the anti-cheat, etc. I kept trying every single measure that would make it NOT crash, and it still crashed. I restarted the game about 20 times, probably racked up like 20-30 minutes as long as it took the game to crash.

If it helps explain, I tried to install it on an external drive (D:).
I uninstalled Uplay and re-installed and it still didn't help.

Then I was reinstalling the game itself. (which is going to take forever because Spectrum)
And it stops midway through to tell me there was a DISK WRITE ERROR. More specifically on the file gameassetpc_00_aa_sound.forge

Is there any way to fix it, reinstall or just completely find a way to ignore it so it's not necessary? Because I'm really at a loss here, I'm trying to play the game with my best friend.

Hey, Im sorry to hear that you have trouble reinstalling the game.

The DISK WRITE ERROR is a thing that is caused by steam sometimes.

Here are some ways that helped people fix it.

  1. Restart Steam and/or your Computer

  2. Reinstall Steam

  3. Start Steam as a Admin by finding the executable file

  4. Cleat the Download Cache , you can do this by going in to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache

  5. Repair you Library Folder you can do this by going in to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > Right click on folder > Repair Folder

  6. Look in to /Steam/steamapps/common for the For Honor File and if it has 0KB Delete it.

  7. Change Download Region , some times the Servers have a problem, so you could try changing the download region to see if its a problem with the Steam Servers.

  8. Sometimes moving the game folder can help , you can do this by going in to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > Add New Library Folder

  9. Refreshing Local Network Hardware

  10. Update System & Drivers

  11. Investigate Firewalls , look up if you Firewall is blocking Steamfiles.

  12. Investigate Anti-Virus , do the same for your Anit-Virus

  13. Investigate Other Programs & Services too

  14. Disable Overclocking

  15. Check RAM for Errors , For Windows: Start -> Find "mdsched" and run Windows Memory Diagnostic

  16. Check Hard Drive for Errors , you can do that by going in to or Windows: My PC -> Right-click on the drive for Steam -> Properties -> Tools -> Error checking

I know these are a lot of things but the issue can be caused by a lot of things.

Make sure to keep me and the Offical Ubisoft Moderators Updated if any of the above mentioned methods helped you fix it.

And if not make sure to tell us too.

I wish you good luck. :3

It seems not: the game still says there was a disk write error getting gameassetpc_00_aa_sound.forge
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That’s nice that hear, that you managed to install it.

We're glad to hear that you were able to find a workaround for that, thanks for the update.

Let us know if you start seeing an issue with R6.
