Haven't played since season 1. Mostly play Chiv2 and Mordhau. Is playerbase ok?

If you already have the game and don't need to spend a penny it is definitely worth coming back since a lot of stuff has been added and changed since season 1. You probably are going to have a horrible time but that's a different story.

For honor is like stockholm syndrome to it's fullest extent. If you want to punch a hole in your monitor and get emote spammed than be my guest. Don't forget the people running away on dominion and ganking you.

They also added a ganking mode, also known as 1v1v1 or you could endure the absolute ♥♥♥♥-fest that is arcade, which is now free to everyone.

its way way different but if you have the patience to re learn the game id say its worth it over all, lots of balancing issues tho so be prepared. its like an abusive relation ship some times

Like others have said the game still has glaring issues much like it did way back at launch, but largely has gotten better. I enjoy it but I'd only play if you're up for finding premade groups, it's not uncommon to get matched with people with hundred and even thousands of hours on the game though so be ready for that.
