I'm cautiously optimistic about this hero, as I've mentioned a few times before, I am happy we're getting a hero that full goes into the Support role and seems to do it better than Gryphon.
I'm glad she's a Heavy and not another Hybrid, even though the classifications means nothing and the only thing separating hero classes now is the type of Perks and Feats they'll have.
I like that she has full, historically accurate(ish) armor that is what the Vikings would have been wearing, I don't like how bland it is and how easily it could just have been retrofitted for any of the other Viking heroes; she looks like a minion or officer who got a promotion.
I don't like the Axe and Shield combination and not making more use of the longer handle on her axe, I don't like that her gameplay pretty much is similar to other heroes, but I kind of like she's another hero that has Superior Block on all her light attacks like Afeera, something I've come to really like on that hero.
I like her feats, again it really plays into her role as a support and defender character.
I don't like that she is genderlocked, same as before; it limits creativity and diversity in-game, I want both male and female Shugoki, I want both female and male Afeera and I want both female and male Varangian Guard, let us be creative, distinct and diverse Ubisoft!
Side rant:
I don't like that the morons still asking for a Spartan Hoplite and specifically thinking of the Battle at Thermopyle, don't realize that her entire kit, mechanics, intended gameplay and feats specifically means a Hoplite with a Shield and Spear will be so much harder to get into the game and not be a gods forsaken copypaste, yeah if some are upset that Varangian isn't adding anything really new to the game, pause and actually THINK that she has all the stuff that much coveted Hoplite could have and said Hoplite, if it ever arrives, will be even less creative that it would have been otherwise.
I actually look at what we have and don't have in the game... and I really don't want more heroes using weapn and shield combinations, unless it's something really way out of left field. Otherwise we're just scarping the bottom of this barrel, the well is empty.
What nonsense! A woman is a priori weak compared to a man; she simply would not survive.
2. Video game
4. Strong medieval women
But please keep been mad about women and not the lack of female shugoki.
