"Activate a key" in the free week 27th July to 3rd August ?
I previously owned this game, long time ago, played less than 2 hours and refunded it. Now I've seen it is a free week to play, so I decided to give it a go and try it once more, however after downloading and clicking "Play" on steam, I get prompted to the Ubisoft Connect which asks me to "Activate a key" "Please enter your CD Key or Activation Code here:" and I have the options to Cancel or Continue. How can I just try it for free what CD key do I type for the Free week ? How do I proceed?

Yeah, can't figure it out either. "Free week" :D HAH.

I believe it is free to download...and then you have to pay 3 dollars to get a cd key. That sounds more like it. Because I am not finding a way around this. =)

had this problem for a while, you have to activate it from the ubisoft connect app, then select the files u already downloaded. Happy to give a more detailed explanation if needed. Sadly i didnt figure this out till i gave up and bought the game.

Yes, please, to the offer of a more detailed explanation. The only thing I could think of was in the "Games" section on Connect. I don't see anything about For Honor there.

To play any UbiSoft title on Steam you need to link it to an UbiSoft account. To my knowledge. that requires you have the Connect software from UbiSoft on the same PC. (YMMV).

From the Library page in Steam, it appears like For Honor should be free to play, the button that's there tells me I should be able to launch it. I do, but then UbiSoft Connect pops up and asks for the CD key for the game.

I suspect either they gave Steam the wrong computer code or software to connect to Connect, or they fouled up something on their end within Connect or their back end.

I opened a support case up with UbiSoft, but of course they have higher demand for support, so it may be a while before they can get back to me.

it seems like they did something wrong because when people play siege for free it works. I've had friends download it with no problem. when for honor was free on Xbox at one point no issue. i think its just for honor to steam like you said

2:25pm Central, I can confirm my issue is now fixed, after restarting the Steam client. (Don't forget, boy and girls, you may have to close it off your Task Bar, not just close the window)

thanks for reply! just like other players, I uninstalled already there's no way I download and reinstall it all over again.
I tried my own problem solving, such as opening the Ubisoft connect and trying to launch the game from there since they had the "free week" too, but there was no way I could locate the files to make it recognise them, so the only way it was to either install it fully from ubisoft or uninstalling it and f it. So I went with the latter after many different attempts to solve it.
