I tried playing with both a controller and keyboard + mouse... Hands down mouse and keyboard works better for me.
And you can change the keybindings, so the vanilla ones shouldn't matter too much.
it feels a bit awkward at first, cause a small twitch on your hand can mess up your block, but if you have a steady hand and get the muscle memory down, then it becomes a whole lot easier.
Mouse & Keyboard = To me feels better for dodging and generally.
Controller = Feels better for blocking, but not by much now that I have gotten used to using the mouse.
Had like 25 hours or so of playtime, 2-3 hours with a controller and rest with mouse and keyboard.
You middle click again while also press the desired direction. (middle click + A/S/D)
I still prefer to play with a controller for this game though, purely because guarding and attack aiming is a little more forgiving with a joystick than with mouse movements.
Mouse&Keyboard for Dark Souls is 1000 times worse.
The only issue with this game is getting used to controling your guard.
but you can't rebind controler so....
srly 2017 and we can't rebind our controller gg ubisoft you really know how to fail
