Is Aramusha really that bad?
So Aramusha always looked cool to me cause of his two swords and I tried him in training and I thought he was pretty fun. I would've got him much earlier but every tier list i've seen has ranked him at the very bottom. Is he really that bad?

Honestly, you can make any hero work in general play. This is especially true in dominion where you have the advantage of having teammates as back-up. The thing about competitive tier lists is that, while they can be applied to any play setting, they are the most pertinent in super-sweaty, mega try-hard competitive scenarios.

But yes, Aramusha is definitely a weak hero and you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. He doesn't really have any openers nor does he have anything that force a read. However with enough skill and effort, you can make him work. Personally, I think he looks cool too and he has pretty good fashion for a Samurai (I don't like how most of the Samurai look, but Aramusha is an exception). Sadly playing him feels a bit weird to me so I don't think I'll ever invest the time in him, but I do wish he came more naturally to me.

Even though people keep saying that Aramusha is bad, i'm actually having fun playing as him. The only downside for me is his lack of openers and is kinda hard in anti-ganks.

Messing with Ara currently, feels close to Kens imo.

Majority of the useful moves rely on his all-parry tho. Can pull some pretty fun stuff off that (quick stun, a long range kick, or unblockable heavy)

It's like all-guard for warlord/bp but requires the same timing of heavy-parry, but more 1on1 focused - so don't use it when being ganked and/or unblockables just normal parry lol.

He does have a somewhat limited kit apart from that and some dash heavies, bar mix-ups. If you spam with him tho ultimately all ur gonna do is feed revenge.

Overall;
just don't depend on his relatively quick but basic heavy/light combos, use all-parry moves situationally and I think he's pretty fun/viable vs most players.

Really? :o I have a blast running into gank's with him currently :D seems like the only character I've played with recent changes that can pretty consistantly pop multiple revenges when being outnumbered.

oo-oooh, and his combination of kill soldier heals/endless light is pretty much insta-clear Zone B with always full hp/stam haha

It's fun to dip into mid to full-heal+also reassure B is always clear

Quick question is Aramusha's all guard good/useful?
❤ Naraldor ❤ Feb 16, 2019 @ 11:23pm
I feel he should have a soft feint like shaman has, atm he can only soft feint after Light>heavy same stance

when fighting side-step heaviers like most kens or monky-mans, the 'all-guard' can be pretty useful.

Overall I seem to use it most when not sure what someone is gonna pull, anti-spam safeguard sorta deal (works ok against oro lighters too)

Hey there. Aramusha player here. Although I main Conqueror, I love to play Aramusha occasionally. I don't claim to be extremely good at him, but I do have a lot of experience and hours with him, especially on console. Despite his low-tier qualities, I love his aesthetic and his simple, straight forward-- albeit flawed-- fighting style: Feints and soft feints. I always try my very best with him, and here's what I've learned:

Aramusha must turtle. You can throw a light out now and then-- maybe even a heavy if you're daring, but Aramusha always has a disadvantage in neutral game. Wait for your opponent to act first, then react to it. Because Aramusha's lights are so fast, he can usually punish just about anything.

Light spam? Heck no. Aramusha's lights are predictable: side, top, side, top, side top. Any enemy who knows how this works will parry you and take a dump on you.

Okay, sometimes Light spam works-- and it's true-- it sometimes works on Assassin classes due to the nature of reflex guard.. but never rely on it. You're not Orochi. In the end, it's better not to try light-spam unless both you and your enemy are low on health and you're extremely desperate. It'll probably kill you anyway, but in a desperate situation the wisest thing Aramusha can do is just turtle and punish.

Don't use All-Guard. Never use All-Guard... except for style points! All-Guarding into an enemy's feint puts you at a mindgame disadvantage. The enemy learns they can exploit you with it, so they'll start throwing out guard breaks more often, which you can't do anything about if they catch you with one while you're All-Guarding. If you can All-Guard something, that also means you can parry it. So just parry incoming attacks instead or just block it. All-Guard is never a good idea. I've done extensive experimentation with it, but in the end I put All-Guard on the backburner and have been extremely successful with Aramusha so far. It's absolutely imperative you become a connoisseur of parrying if you want to be an effective Aramusha, since, well, how to say this: he's got nothing else. You generally have to be twice as good as your opponent to win anyway, so get used to losing.

So Aramusha turtles. How do you make the enemy aggressive? One of the best moves you can do to spark up the enemy's aggression is Zone Attack-- assuming it hits. If the enemy doesn't parry it, you'll do a small amount of chip damage. Of course, don't forget to cancel the unblockable follow up slash. It always gets parried if you commit to it. And, even when you cancel it, very rarely will people actually try to prematurely parry the unblockable anyway, so just be patient. The small chip damage from the first quick strike is enough to make your foe feel like they need to "catch up" in damage, so they'll grow impatient. It's likely they'll try to attack you, and that's a golden opportunity to parry something and get a free heavy in.

Aramusha can also cancel his forward dash heavy leap. It looks really weird, but yes you can cancel it. It's useful to try to bait an enemy's parry. The main issue is that they'll often feint their parry attempt when they realize you're baiting them. However, against slow characters without hyper armor, you can actually interrupt their top heavy with a quick light and stop their attack. Makes them really angry and thus gives you more opportunity to parry/punish. Sometimes you can even commit to the forward dash heavy leap too-- especially after you've feinted it many times. Works sometimes, but very rarely.

This brings me to another point: Aramusha's attacks are great at interrupting enemy attacks. If you feel like the enemy's about to throw out a strike, throw yours out first. Interrupt their attack and their flow. Make them feel like you will attack at any moment. But to do this, you have to be sure they're going on the aggressive. What I like to do is interrupt an enemy's strike with a quick light, then when the enemy's thinking "there's no way he'd attack from the same direction AGAIN, so it's my turn to strike!!" I'll throw out another light attack immediately after! Then, if you want to throw out a third one to make them angrier, you can-- but don't push your luck. By then, they'll try to play smarter and wait to attack you again. Be patient. Try this mindgame too much and you'll get parried. The whole point is to seem gutsy, like you KNOW when they're going to attack. Make it seem like you're in their mind and, if they dare throw out an attack, you'll always slap them with your sword first.

As Aramusha, ANY type of parry will reward you with a heavy attack. Aramusha's heavy attack does good damage and is quite fast compared to other heroes, so always heavy after a guard break or parry.

Soft feints. Aramusha can soft feint a combo finisher. You execute a combo finisher by attacking in any direction, and then using a heavy in the same direction as your previous attack. However, you can cancel your heavy with a light attack by using a light attack in any direction other than your current heavy swing. Then, if your light attack hits, you can use a heavy in the same direction again-- and soft feint it again! If you master this, you can rattle up your opponent and make them unable to parry anything, since you've got a million attacks coming from a million different directions-- and their HUD is lying to them!

What's also awesome is actually COMMITTING to your heavies. Only do this after you've soft feinted your heavies already many times. At some point, they'll start to assume you're just gonna soft feint it and prematurely block in a different direction. But, you can unexpectedly COMMIT to the heavy and, if you listen closely, you can hear them crying from the other side of the world.

Anyway, since I type at 200 wpm (weird flex) I don't want you to feel guilty that I "put my heart and soul" into this post. If you think this was helpful and want more Aramusha pointers you're welcome to add me. Otherwise, I hope this aids you in all your future Aramusha endeavors!

I mained aramusha for ages because he was fun and I would always consistently do well with him. I like the counter attack style of gameplay and he basically had a single button press to kill someone.

Playing as him as got my reactions well honed and it's helped with other fighters.

But yea, you simply blade blockade whenever someone goes to hit you and if you fancy it you can unleash an unstoppable barrage of sword strikes. Sometimes it's a shock as to how fast you can kill someone as one, simply because you mix the direction of the sword spam.

Tl;Dr
He's easy mode. By far the easiest to play as and very satisfying.
