You don't really need a shield if you're covered in plate armor with a padded vest and chain mail under it.
I understand that people think scythes are cool, and RWBY only made it worse, but actually a scythe would make a terrible weapon.
The blade is only sharp on the inside edge because of how you're meant to use it. Even if you made a "war-scythe" with a double edge, the curvature of the blade means you need to be closer to your opponent than you actually think to hit them. Hitting someone with the point of the blade is even harder.
Off topic: I find it hilarious that Ruby is actually perfectly suited to using a scythe because her main ability is to be faster than anyone in the whole freaking world, and she could hold the blade out to her side, and just run past the enemy, but she never does that, and the only thing she uses her semblance for is being late to very important events.
Allso I think a warhammer is great idea Id allso like to see a 3 section staff for the wulin faction
But for real, blunt weapons are the best thing for dealing with armor, and there's not too much of that in the game right now.
I remember kinda laughing at the Marching Fire intro movie, and seeing the Warden recieve a cut on her chest plate, and suddenly there's just blood everywhere and she's dead.
DING
This is why a character with a hammer would be awesome. I know it's a game and all, but every time I see a Warden or LB go down to a Kensei, Oro or Aramushi, I chuckle a bit.
When the Shugoki rework finally arrives I really hope hes viable. That Tetsubo is just too much fun.
And for the record, if this game was more realistic the knights would actually be the worst faction. At a point in time they were so incredibly cocky and stupid because of their "invincible armor" that you were better off hiring mercenaries to get the job done. Unless we are talking about super-late medieval, in which case the armor was made irrelevant because of the beginning of matchlocks. Too early and no one had this kind of armor. yay history. Partially why I enjoy for honor is because of everyone supposedly portrayed at their peak.
That was a lot longer than it was meant to be.
90% of the various samurai heroes in-game attack mostly with slashes, which is exactly what plate armor is designed to protect against best. The nobushi and shugoki would actually be best based on the animations they use, nobushi's thrusts aimed at gaps in the plate being the way to go. The tetsubo is basically a Japanese warhammer, the perfect anti-plate weapon.
That also got long :) oh well.
They should make an event where everyone fights with fists.
I mean a solid handled Mace, not a Flail.
IRL Lawbringer would be nearly untouchable by the majority of the cast, as his armour and weaponry is pretty much the pinnacle of design before flintlock weapons appeared.
The knights would be the most powerful faction, they’re the most technologically advanced gear wise and are better equipped. Apart from Gladiator, his armour has too many gaps.
They’ve already pulled their April Fools prank by saying Cent, LB and Shug are top tier.
