To my knowledge they were mostly made up of brainwashed soliders trained from childhood, mostly converted Christians, in fact there are quite a few horror stories of how they were abused as children, but that's another topic entirely.
Janissaries and other factions such as Spartans do not have a place in this game, the closest I can think of to a Spartan would be Gladiator, the Hoplomachus Mythic Outfit using Greek patterns and designs, as that type of Gladiator was made to resemble Greek warriors.
Lastly the Roman Empire had a much greater impact on Europe than the Ottoman Empire did, the Knights and Crusaders also had a much greater impact on Europe than the Ottoman Empire did.
Any kind of great impact the Ottoman Empire ever had on Europe and the rest of the west was as invaders, with very little else in between.
PS: Ruled the world for 600 years? Must have been a very small world indeed that didn't count Europe, the vast majority of Asia and the Americas (which neither knew about at that time) as part of it then, seeing as they got sent packing multiple times throughout history in their attempts to conquer Europe.
Actually, maybe For Honor should add a Winged Hussar to the rooster, as that was a European warrior who did indeed have an impact on Europe.
THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED
Unfortunately i understand you about brain washed soldiers thing because i searched this subject in youtube etc. and there was just pure propaganda. If you want to learn truth about this just pls search this subject from every point of view in google.
Guys This is a game to enjoy not to write histıory. when i brought this subject on table i tought that way and now you must think that way too.
Janissaries are fairly unknown and requires a Google or Wikipedia search to get an answer of, when you say Viking, Knight, Samurai, Roman or Gladiator, the person you ask will immediately know exactly what it is your talking about, even Highlanders to some extend have made their way into Pop Culture thanks to movies and tv shows.
Janissaries hasn't, the only media I can think of is AC:Revelations, for the most part asking someone about a Janissary will result in them asking what that is.
This game is more or less a popularity contest when it comes to its factions and heroes, the Janissaries are not part of and have never been part of that contest and it is one that they will lose on all fronts.
While I agree that this game is for fun with the implausable premise of Vikings, Knights and Samurai all dishing out beatings on one another within the same time period and does leave room to fantastical elements, the game developers and writers have stated that they still want to keep it within the world itself, they want it to fit with what they already have. This shows in how the Centurion and Gladiator are part of the Knights faction, being mentioned in the Story Mode as an ancient empire long thought lost, but as Apollyon states is untrue; "I have met them".
Same goes for the Highlander, as Vikings have historically ruled parts of England as the symbol the vikings in this game use (the Raven Banner) was also used by a Gael-Norse dynasty that ruled Scotland and Ireland for centuries.
Right now I highly doubt we'll see any new hero that does not keep within the elements of the games existing factions and I doubt we'll see any new faction that would accomplish this, too much work on other fronts that has to be adressed and a new faction would demand a lot of work to implement in the game.
We'll certainly see new heroes added in the future, but I believe heroes that so break the establish aestethic of any of the three factions like Janissaries or Hindu warriors as someone suggested, is at the very bottom of things on that list.
I could be mistaken of course, but I find the conterary to be unlikely.
dude which time period are you talking about? Lawbringer is 200 years ahead than half of the cast. Halberds and his superior armor had seen around 14th-15th century. Where the last gladiators were seen around 400 AD, these 2 are in the same fkin faction. Janissaries were a part of the 13th century and fame part is explained by others i think. If you are gonna nitpick do it straight.
losing 1/3rd of europe, the control of silk and spice road, losing jerusalem plus 4 lost crusades is not impactful to the europe i guess. Plus the legit end of the roman empire (byzantine during that time) and the taking of one of the wonders of the world is still not impactful...
anyways i don't think the game needs a new faction right now rather than fixing the gameplay issues.
Unless Ubi can incorporate another 6 more unique and interesting heroes that don't already borrow too much from the current (and already big) roster of 26 and soon to be 28, all while keeping to the aesthetics/history of the Ottoman Empire? It is unlikely.
This is partially why people instead recommend a "Mercenary" faction, but even then, it isn't necessarily a good idea to bloat the roster even further.
also Janissaries grew decadent inefficent and just started to meddle into the inner administration of the country (dethroning sultans, assasination etc.) as ottoman empire got older so i guess their best was when ottomans was at the height of their power
