Why do so many people play Dominion?
Keep in mind this is just my opinion, so no need to get pissy with me, but I can't understand for the life of me why everyone plays this. It most definitely has the fastest match making and yet I think Dominion is hands down the worst game mode in this game. Nine out of ten times when I play that hellish game mode I get killed either by being ganked or having someone use an insta-kill ability on me (like throwing some bomb).

It takes no skill.
It makes me want to die.

So why does everyone play it?

Edit: Also, why don't people just play tribute? I can hardly ever get games in it, but its a far superior gamemode imo, much more fun.

Good question.

I play it because the matchmaking is quicker..that's about it.

I know your feelings well.

For me personally it's because that's pretty much how the game was advertised and why I was interested in it, among all the other features ofc. I also enjoy sometimes winning 1v4's immensely. Actually, I always enjoy the fights where I'm outnumbered the most. Don't even need to survive, I'm just happy if I stalled them long enough.

That aside, I don't think For Honor is a well enough balanced game for good old beatm'up 1v1 fights/duels. I'd rather play a more refined and pure Beatm'up than FH if that's what I'm looking for (The Street Fighters, Mortal Kombats and Tekkens... and so on).

You answered your own question therefriend it takes no skill People dont want to try they want to win and thats easy to do when you can group up and jump people or run away and back capture points till you have all your feats then spam them for the rest of the match

Because it does take skill. The average pub doesn't work together though, so that can feel random.

Well in some matches it can be quite a fun game type when you don't have a 4 Player patrol sprinting into you 24/7.

However I do get your point as to why people tend to stick to that mode so very much, personally i really like Deathmatch modes, Matchmaking takes a couple minutes or more depending on the day but i find them really enjoyable, same with brawl, yet these modes are less popular.

Duel I don't mind too much, can be good for a quick matchup but its not one that stands out a whole lot to me neither, yet that is again one of the most popular modes, but I can see why its a go-to mode.

Because it's fun.

People farming steel. And it's more fun, especially throwing people off the cliff when they expect that the least.

Gotta add, I used to play stuff like Rune back in the day and then Mount&Blade Multiplayer. So I always wished for a more modern pure melee brawler. For Honor seemed to be exactly that (from the announcement footage and so on). Playing this as a 1v1 Beatm'up didn't even cross my mind and I don't intend to unless I'm bored and need some change here and there.

This is basicly my new Mount&Blade MP experience.

When Jason Vadenbergh announced this on the UBI panel, I cried a little because my prayers were heard.

Hell, I'd wish there were gamemodes with even bigger teams.

You have no idea how much skill to survive or to win in ganks, even with revenge it still doesn't make you invincible.
But a really good player will take advantage of that by playing goood defense and time it's counter attacks.
You have no idea how satisfying to win against the odds.
That's why I like Domninion, I still like 1v1 but it sometimes gets really boring when your opponent decided to stare at you and doing nothing but block.

Yeah I'm sure it does take a LOT of skill to win against the odds, and I'm sure its VERY satisfying. Problem is its much easier to gank than it is to survive being ganked, and assuming this game gets proper matchmaking (only been waiting a year) and people begin to get matched with people of their own skill level, being ganked by people equivalent to you in skill is a death sentence.

see if this was the common thing id more ok with it but its not pure example here over the past few days iv played dom with some buddys of mine in not one match did it come to a point where i wasnt being spammed with bombs catapults arrows stuff that even if your crushing a 3v1 you cant do anything about when it nails you in the back lol

Well deathmatch is the samething, with horrid maps. Duels always had horrid maps in my opinion, with local death pits and tiny spaces with objects in the middle.

In fairness Dominion was the only map with a large enough area to actually "duel" in.

Dominion without feats and gearstats would also be great.

I've come to despise Dominion because of the current ganking meta, it isn't as fun as it used to be, since what happens in every match I'm in is that the whole team bundles up on one point and more often than not it's your team that get wiped because you're the only one trying to capture a point.

My reasons for playing is the same as others, it's fast, gives the highest amount steel and experience and is of course, the most played.
I also like the challenge of fighting other players and apply anything I've learned, though it's kind of pointless, since the common strategy now is to hold down and block/parry anything till the rest of the team arrives.

No need to apply advanced knowledge when you and your three buddies can just CC-stunlock one or two guys till they die and then emote spam over their bodies as if though you just won an epic battle.
