the steel orders are the daily ones, which reset every 24 hours.
I thought only the characters in "Life Is Strange" talked/wrote like that. Guess my age is showing.
As for the contract orders, I wish they reset every day, but it's really not that bad. I bought FH during the summer sale, and I've saved over 100K steel in just a couple of months.
daily orders are daily:)
If you're going to claim I've said something, you may not want to include my comment in your response... Pretty clear I said nothing of the sort.
Is the baseline steel you earn from playing a match going down the more you play? No. That would be a punishment.
Are you given periodic optional objectives for additional steel & XP? Yes. That's a reward for regular play.
The contract system in For Honor doesn't have any impact on your rewards for completing matches, That's an entirely seperate dynamic system that puts zero weight towards how long you've played. You could play for 8 hours and you'll be getting the same amount of steel for playing a match (all other variables being equal) as you would in your first match.
Your mistake is considering the contract system as part of your baseline reward income, rather than a bonus.
There's an interesting case study from World Of Warcraft. When it launched there was a XP debuff that was applied after you'd played more than a few hours in a day. An enemy that would reward you 50xp initially would only reward you 25xp and It was hated by the community as they felt it was a punishment for continued play.
Blizzard flipped it on it's head. They changed the debuff to a buff that applied for the first few hours and called it a rested bonus. Cleverly, they also adjusted the baseline XP from 50xp down to 25xp. The end results were the same, Initially the enemy was rewarding 50xp which then dropped to 25xp. The perception had changed though, as players felt they were now being rewarded for their first few hours, rather than punished for playing too long.
Now, you may conclude that's still a punishment, you're earning less after playing for a while, and there's an argument to say that's true, but there's an equal argument that you're simply being rewarded for coming back each day with bonus XP. After all, if theynever had the rested bonus, you'd be earning less.
So, to bring it back to For Honor, you can consider the Contracts to be your Rested Bonus. They don't have to be there at all, they're not essential to the game, they're just a Skinner Box mechanic that's there as a form of behavioural conditioning to keep you coming back by drip feeding you rewards... If you're not in game, you're not exposed to their in-game store and you're not going to make a purchase.
Most importantly though, remember that the goal of any game should always be enjoyment. If you're playing purely for the aquisition of steel, you've fallen victim to another psycological trick and you're essentially watching a number tick up slowly in the blind hope that there's some worthwhile payoff once it hits a certain figure.
