why do 70% of players i encounter are all samurais?

Because people are abusing the fact that Orochi fast attack is OP against newer players who aren't great at defence yet. Also, vikings are awesome. That is all.

Because there are weebs everywhere.
Japanese culture is just incredibly popular, everyone wants to play as a samurai, ninja and the likes so... yeah, it's overly popular, and orochi is easy to play as a beginner.

Samurai heroes are good, Orochi is good for low levels, Shinobi is good for weebs, Nobushi is good for higher levels(and weebs because of her cat ears), Shugoki is good for people who prefer torturing themselves, Aramusha is ♥♥♥♥ and Kensei is good in general, not excellent, but good.
Also, the Japanese culture and the fact that Samurai are associated with Honor, this is why most of the Samurai players I meet fight honorably and some even salute or bow before battle.

i still dont know how to defend properly against orochi. they're just too quick.

Good ones still give me a lot of trouble, I just dance with them and try to beat them at their own speed game (I play Shaman). It doesn't always work out, but the more I fight them the better I get at predicting their patterns.

Wait, there's Cat ears for Nobushi? No wonder why I see an anime profile pic on the guys playing Nobushi with the cat ears. Too bad I hate cats, dogs are way better. Go Vikings and their wolves!
(Why I dislike cats? I'm extremely allergic to them. My body becomes one giant rash, tears never stop running down my face, I sneeze a lot and snot won't stop coming out).
