sweep sometimes but carefully.
bash from feinted heavies like conq
Shield Charge(Tackle) is now mostly for dodging some things. Not for bashing
and you are good in dominion
But for dominion most of the chart can be nice and fun to play.
None of the teams in the recent 2v2 and 4v4 tournaments had a Valky in them. The winning team in the grand finals of the 2v2 tournament had a Warden.
Valky can't disable people, can't safely crowd-control, and her highest punish from neutral is a pitiful 24-damage heavy. If you wanted to spam people with 400ms lights, you'd just play Orochi, whose lights are omnidirectional and do more damage. If you wanted to shield bash, you'd play Conq, whose bash is not telegraphed with a feint and is not negated by an early dodge. If you wanted to hold the mid point, you'd play Nobu, who is better at surviving ganks and heals up from killing minions. Valky brings nothing to the table.
There are not much characters in this game with unique mechanics. Maybe around 5. From 18
So to say that valk is bad because "brings nothing" is overstretching it. ITs not balanced game sure. But nothing so bad that someone becomes unplayble.
You play tournaments for result in all other times - for fun and here all characters can be fun in all modes.
My comment was in response to the fine gentleman above me who claimed that Valky broke the game and that Warden was underwhelming. The tournament stats paint the opposite picture.
The second part of my comment is simply me trying to elaborate on why that could be the case - specifically that Valky, hybrid or not, doesn't really fit any role with her current moveset. Not in 2s, not in 4s, and definitely not in duels. You can play her casually and do just fine, yes. But competitively, she's unplayable in the sense that you're always better off picking a different character.
I still never have trouble with Wardens, but I do main him after the rework (not because he's "muh overpowered" but because i love the armours, swords, executions, emotes, etc., and he was unplayable for me beforehand) and other Wardens aren't too much hassle to deal with.
I will agree that the tournament stats paint a different picture but you've got to remember that this is the best players of their respective heroes playing to win utilising any tools available in order to win. Warden was given useful tools, and Valkyrie probably still needs a bit more love in the form of other useful tools.
We might have to get back to this discussion when (if?) unlock-rolls stop being a thing, but right now Warden is quite fine. It's Valky who bothers me.
This basically means that fighting Warden, Warlord, and Highlander would be hellish on every level and THEN they'd actually be overpowered.
Warden is best choice for everything. He has everything.
