Transfer progress to steam from uplay

This post says that for honor will be free on steam ... i already have the game on uplay for quite some time ... if i get it on steam can i transfer my progress from uplay or do i have to start all over again ? (I prefer steam over uplay)

Even when the game on steam it will use Ubisoft overlay to play it. And you will have to login in you ubi account to play on Ubi servers.
And account progress connected to account. So it will be still there still.

If you want to begin from start than register\login in new Ubi account.
Nothing too complicated about that.

Basically having it on steam is only for steam achivements, cards, consistent library and maybe buying next DLC on some steam sale in Future to unlock new PvE mode.

And after you install it from steam you should dissable steam overlay for this game. Because having two overlays working can be not healthy for latency and some random lags i can guess.

well I got this for free on uplay,then bought gold on steam
progress,steel etc was still there and heroes(gold) unlocked
